In tonight’s 9-1-1 episode, there was one troublesome little toddler who escaped daycare to follow a balloon. His teacher thought he had gone inside. He had actually climbed over the fence and followed the balloon to a nearby power plant. Somehow he had climbed up to the top without injuring himself.
He then refused to come down without his ballon. It couldn’t be any other balloon. It didn’t even matter if he was promised ten balloons. He wanted that one red balloon and so Buck had to go get it for him when their house took the call.
The little boy’s name was Theo. Theo called Buck “Mr. Poop”. The two of them bonded as they waited for his daycare to report him missing. When it happened, the parents said they’d come to the firehouse to pick up their boy. Buck just never expected that it would be his old buddies.
The ones he helped get pregnant. Buck was asked four years ago to help a couple get pregnant. They’ve been trying for years with no results. Buck being the good friend that he is he did it. He helped them get pregnant. He also helped deliver the little boy.
Buck never asked to be a part of the child’s life. He was merely the sperm donor. He pulled away so as not to get attached and so it was funny seeing the kid again. There was no doubt who Theo took after. He was Buck’s kid alright. He had a reckless streak a mile wide.
The whole team was talking about when they got a call to help free a father from a kiddie slide at the baby gym. Buck was explaining that he was just the sperm donor and they kept using the word sperm till they were asked to stop by management. Parents were complaining about the word.
They got the dad out. Buck also agreed to meet with his old friends again. They wanted to have dinner because they needed advice on how to handle Theo.
They asked Buck about his childhood. Which he made sound so much worse. He explained all the broken bones. He didn’t mention that he started doing that to get his parents’ attention.
Or that it happened after his brother died. He was medically checked out and he didn’t inherit the disease that killed his brother. The only thing he passed on was making everyone around Theo feel overwhelmed.
Theo was a lot to deal with. Connor and Kameron asked if they could get tips from Buck’s mother on how to deal with a son like Theo. What they needed was a Maddie. Buck felt so bad for his friends.
He thought he unleashed a demon spawn on him because in the short time they all had dinner – Theo spat out chocolate milk all over Buck, broke a vase, and nearly burned down Buck’s home. Buck was feeling really bad about himself and he told Chimney who reminded him that he has the biggest heart around.
Buck finally stopped feeling bad once he heard that, but then tragedy struck. Connor and Kameron were involved in a car accident. There was a guy with a boat swerving in and out of traffic.
The boat came loose. It caused a an accident on the highway. Buck’s friends were involved in that accident. Connor and Kameron were left in bad shape. Theo had also been in the car.
The second that Buck realized Theo might be involved he freaked. Chimney refused had the others keep him back while they secured the passengers.
Theo had been in the car too. He was luckily alright. He was probably still in an adjusted toddler chair because he didn’t have a scratch on him. The same couldn’t be said about his parents. They were all rushed to the hospital. Buck went with them. Theo was later placed in emergency foster care while the system looked for family.
Maddie had found out what happened and she was with her brother when he asked Theo if he could check in on him. Theo said only if his dad says its okay. Theo was sweet underneath it all. He doesn’t understand what happened to his parents.
Maddie had a tough day at work. She bought everyone sandwiches for lunch. She wanted to prove she could still be a cool boss and unfortunately she gave everyone food poisoning. She had to call from back up from another call center. It made her realize that she couldn’t be everything to everyone.
She needed to be the boss. She still put that all aside for Buck because he was worth it. Buck will soon see what Theo needs and potentially be there for him when he needs it.
And Athena forced Detective Hooks to do his job by helping the migrants that the firefighters saved, but he shot her tonight to cover up he was involved with the human traffickers.
