In tonight’s Brilliant Minds episode, Denise Riveria came to the hospital during the nightshift. She had been out with friends. She saw a guy and she had a panic attack. It made her run away in fright. She ran right into traffic. Denise was lucky she didn’t get hit by a car, but she did pass out.

She was taken to a hospital. She explained she has a history of panic attacks. They developed over a year ago. She made some lifestyle changes. She thought she was getting better until she had another panic attack after seeing that man. She didn’t tell the doctors about the guy.

Maybe she wanted to keep her secrets private. She told them she didn’t know what caused it nor why she ran away. The doctors noticed that whenever the male doctor touched her shoulder that her heart rate went up. They ran several cardio tests on her.

They also wanted her to see someone from Neuro. It would be best if Wolf saw her only he wasn’t there. He didn’t come in for his shift. He seemingly disappeared and Carol was the only one worried he went off the deep end. He wasn’t at home.

Someone named Brad was there. Brad met Wolf at the club. Sofia allegedly brought Wolf there. She also disappeared when he met Brad and the two went home together. Wolf was now missing. Brad claimed he hadn’t seen him in a few days. He was still crashing at the man’s place like a squatter.

Carol told him to leave. She also was beginning to suspect that Sofia wasn’t real. Sofia wasn’t in the room during her sleep study. It had just been Wolf. Carol checked and no one else has seen this Sofia. It always been she recently left or they’re meeting up later.

Wolf might’ve created her to deal with the stress of his father’s reappearance. Its what Carol thought and she couldn’t get in touch with Wolf to figure out if her theory was true.

Wolf left his cell phone in his office. Carol broke into it. She wanted to find signs of where he might be when she came across the phone. It made her realize she had no way of contacting him. And it turns out he was desperately needed. They saw one of Denise’s panic attacks and that was no attack they’ve ever seen. The doctors also did some digging. They found out Denise was on the missing persons list.

One issued by the NYPD. They had to talk to Denise. They needed to know if she had been harmed. She told them that she wasn’t kept in a basement or anything like that. She simply took a break from her life. The man she saw outside of the club was her brother. She has two brothers and a father. Her dad was sick. He has dementia. Denise has been his primary caregiver since he got sick. Her brothers never asked her to do it. They simply assumed she’d be the one to do it. She began experiencing what she thought was panic attacks last month and so she stepped away from her life.

She didn’t mean to stay away for a month. She just thought it was the stress of being the fulltime caregiver to her father. She thought that by living for herself a bit that she’d get better. Even return to see her family if she does get better. Her family wasn’t abusive. They just put all the emotional baggage on her. She helped them through a divorce, tax season, and now their dad. She was worried it was making her sick. She was true about being sick, but not about the cause. It wasn’t panic attacks.

Denise has a rare noncancerous tumor. It was flooding her with adrenaline. It was like she was getting high and it was just the tumor. They found where the tumor was located. She needed it removed. She also couldn’t be stressed in the meantime. Which is why her family showing up to see her at the hospital had momentarily caused her heartrate to spike. She calmed down. She was being put on better medication now that they diagnosed her. She later wanted to see her family and she got that chance.

Stil, Wolf was missing. Carol lied to everyone by saying he had the flu. She eventually came out with the truth once she heard that he was selling his motorcycle. Carol asked their good friend Rosie to call her if she saw Wolf again. The motorcycle was off the market until then. Carol was there for Denise when the patient talked to her family and told them that she couldn’t keep being their dad’s caregiver. They had to get help for him because she wanted to return to being his daughter. And not his nurse.

The family took it well. It also sparked a certain doctor to come forward with the truth. Wolf might be at his father’s apartment. So, Carol went there and she didn’t find him. Wolf came into the hospital on his own. He was looking for Sofia’s file. He thought they were hiding it from him. It was actually Josh who claimed he had the file so no one else got to see Wolf that way. Carol soon returned to the hospital and she spoke with her friend. She tried to comfort him. She didn’t tell him about Sofia because Wolf believed he still had to rescue her from Hudson Oakes.

Carol took him to the behavioral place. She had him fill out documents to be admitted. She then left him there because she knew that was the best place for him. Carol then went to her daughter’s recital. And she brought along Anthony as her plus one seeing as her ex was bringing Rebecca.

And Dana worked up the courage to say she didn’t want to move in with her girlfriend. Yes, it’s awkward having Ericka around and yet that was her friend. Dana felt like she needed a buffer.

THE END!
