In tonight’s Chicago Fire episode, Chief Hopkins was out that day. Lucy still hasn’t sent over the file to Internal Affairs. She was considering what was the best move to make and she wasn’t sure it was siding with her new boss. He carried a grudge against Severide because of what Severide’s father did.

It’s in no way Severide’s fault for what his father did twenty years ago. Lucy was still considering sending out the file when the paramedics got a call out. Novak and Violet have been weird around each other. Novak didn’t care that Violet slept with Vasquez. She more cared that Violet didn’t tell her right away. The two were really good friends. And Novak was hurt that it took Violet months to say something.

They were still dealing with the weirdness when they got a call about a pregnant woman. This man was waiting outside. He said that he doesn’t get reception in his building only he was the super.

He told them that his girlfriend went into labor in the laundry room. He took both paramedics down the steps in what appeared to be a cage. He had abducted a woman named Sarah. Sarah was pregnant. She was thirty-eight weeks along. She has gestational diabetes. She was abducted before she could take her last insulin shot.

Her abductor’s name was Ryan. They have no relationship. He fixated on her. It started a couple of months ago. She noticed that he was making up reasons to stop by her apartment. She stopped letting him in and that’s when she noticed he was watching her from the windows. She put in her notice through to the building manager.

Ryan must have found out because that’s when he abducted her. He wasn’t even the father of the baby. He broke into her apartment and she pulled out a knife trying to defend herself. She managed to cut his arm.

She just didn’t get the chance to escape because that’s when Ryan pulled out a gun. He took all three women hostage. He told them that they didn’t need anything to deliver her baby.

He claimed medics deliver babies all the time. Violet said not without supplies. They needed to get Sarah her insulin. Ryan locked up Violet with Sarah. He then took Novak to Sarah’s apartment upstairs. They collected supplies to deliver the baby. Novak tried to hide a pair of scissors but Ryan spotted she had something in her hand and took it away from her.

Ryan was unstable. He was getting more so by the minute because a noise complaint had been made. The building manager stopped by. He checked the building and he went down to the basement. He found all three women there. Ryan shot him. Ryan said he should’ve listened to him. He then went on a rant about how no one listens to him. This all started because Ryan’s wife left him and took their kid. He was trying to start over by fixating on Sarah. Sarah didn’t have an active partner lying around. He thought she was lost like him.

Ryan believed he can fix her so she’s not lost anymore. He found his way. He said he would help her find hers. Ryan originally planned on leaving town after the baby was born. Then shooting the building manager led him to speed up his plans. He didn’t care that Sarah was still in labor. He wanted to take her out of there now. Violet had tricked him into handing over a sedative. It would take about thirty seconds to work on a man of Ryan’s size. Novak thought they should get the gun away first.

Only they didn’t have time for that. They were treating two patients. One in labor and another bleeding out. The paramedics treated them both as best they could. Ryan only cared about moving with Sarah.

The police were onto him by then. Vasquez got worried when neither Violet or Novak answered their radio. They’ve been missing for hours at that point. They weren’t on call. Novak called CPD. He also had Lucy track down 911 calls from the area. There was a noise complaint. It was from Sarah’s apartment. Her neighbor overheard her arguing with Ryan.

The neighbor didn’t know much about Sarah. Like whether or not she lived with a partner. She said that the super would know. He worked both buildings and could be found next door.

Vasquez went with his old cop friend to interview Ryan. Vasquez spotted his hand wound that was nicely bandaged. The way Violet taught Novak to do it. They got backup and they raided the basement just as they got the gun away from Ryan. Sarah had delivered her son. She and Dalton were rushed to the hospital.

Ryan got arrested. Novak and Violet got their rig back. Vasquez had to give a statement to the police and everyone was just so happy that it was all over.

Lucy was also so busy manning the desk during a crisis that she didn’t get the chance to put in the paperwork against Severide.

THE END!
