On tonight’s Chicago Med episode, Bert passed away on tonight’s episode. Sharon Goodwin was with him. It didn’t matter that they were divorced. He was a big part of her life. They shared children together and so she made sure that their children were also there for his final moments. They got to be with him. They got to be there for each other.

Sharon was still with family when the ED found itself full of drama. There was a car crash involving two cars. Sebastian Hendricks hit a cab that had a passenger in the backseat. Only the passenger was a pregnant woman and she was claiming that what happened was no accident.

Louisa Sweeney claimed that Sebastian hit them on purpose. It could be the fact she was in labor or maybe she wasn’t as blindsided as the driver when the other car hit them. The driver was Angelo Reyes.

The poor man came in not feeling anything on his body and it wasn’t surprising when he began to code. Louisa was also delivered of a healthy baby boy. The baby had to have its arms pinned to his side because he had a fractured arm. It happened during the car accident. And so Louisa was ready to talk to the police the first moment she could.

Louisa stuck by her story that Sebastian hit their car on purpose. Sebastian even agreed with that sentiment because he said did it. His lawyer began claiming he tried to kill himself.

The lawyer added that Sebastian has always struggled with depression. It started five years ago. It never went away. It never lessened. She was right about Sebastian history. He’s been on several different medications. He also has a deep brain stimulation that’s a very aggressive treatment for depression and that wasn’t working either.

Sebastian was tired of feeling sick. When Angelo cut him off on the road, he snapped. He wanted to hurt him and he doesn’t necessarily believe he wanted to hurt himself. Not then anyways.

It was a different case at the hospital. He actually wanted to face prison time. He felt he deserved to be punished. He doesn’t think he should live if Angelo doesn’t. Theo was shadowing Dr. Charles. He thought that maybe the brain stimulation might have caused severe anger issues. It was supposed to treat Parkinson’s and in rare cases it can cause behavioral issues.

The two doctors agreed to an fMRI to see if that could be the case. If he wasn’t legally responsible for the accident, he shouldn’t go to jail. It was good news for his lawyer. It was probably even better news for his absentee parents. They never bothered coming to the hospital or going with him to any of his doctor appointments.

They were ashamed of having a “crazy” son. They threw themselves into work rather than deal with his problems. The most they did for him after the accident was hire the lawyer. Which probably had more to do with their good name than it did with genuine affection.

It was unfortunate for Sebastian. Especially as the fMRI showed it wasn’t the brain stimulation that caused anger issues. There was some good news. The same test showed that Sebastian might have been misdiagnosed. He thought he broke up and then got depression. It might have been depression then breakup.

He wasn’t interested in dating again when it’s been five years. He has shown no interest in anything since then. It’s why he thought the depression came from the breakup. He didn’t know that he has a hormonal disorder.

He’s been on useless depression medication. He needed surgery and the proper medication. It also explained his aggression. Dr. Charles felt it best to put him in an in-patient facility. The lawyer disagreed with that decision.

She said the parents wanted to maintain control over Sebastian’s health. They couldn’t do if he was locked away in an asylum. Dr. Charles and Theo for that matter both reminded her that the young man has been under the supervision for five years. And all it led to was being misdiagnosed for just as long because neither parents cared enough to be there.

They sent a lawyer that didn’t care about the patient and that’s exactly what Charles will tell Family Services if they interfere in Sebastian’s health again.

Though speaking of parents, Dr. Archer met his baby mother’s father. They were of the same generation. Mark Asher was working in construction at the hospital. Archer was snappy with him before he realized who he was and so they got off on the wrong foot. They didn’t like each other. They were never going to like each other.

Mark told off his daughter for having a baby with a sixty year old. He also threw in the fact that maybe she wouldn’t have been so messed up if she hadn’t grown up in a single parent household.

Archer then told him off. He made Mark apologize to his daughter. Mark came to respect him for that and he still believes co-parenting wasn’t going to work because now he sees that Archer was very much in love with his girl. He even told Hannah as much. Dr. Frost meanwhile got a blast from the past.

The other star from their show in the early 2000s was in town for a convention and he stopped by the hospital. He ended up stealing drugs, but he thought he deserved it after Frost torpedo his career. Frost quit the show right as it was taking off. Ian’s career never recovered and so he thinks he’s entitled to Percocet every now and then.

Angelo survived surgery and he will recover. He made a friend out of Louisa after everything. She helped them track down his family in the Philippines. They agreed to the surgery that saved his mobility. And Sharon did learn to laugh again with some help of old family videos of her with Bert.

THE END!
