In tonight’s Chicago PD episode, Officer Torres was still investigating Odell Morgan’s murder. Plus, that of Odell’s wife Simone. Simone’s body was never found and Odell was convicted of her murder based on the testimony of his brother-in-law. The brother-in-law had lied on the stand because he was threatened.
This was no simple domestic. Simone was killed by someone with pull. The false testimony put Odell behind bars for life. He actually had to break out of prison to get someone to finally take his case seriously and he was ultimately killed before the investigation could prove his innocence. Simone’s killer desperately wanted to hide what happened back then.
Only Torres had more questions than answers. He followed the investigation as Odell did. They both missed something. They missed that another murder preceded Simone’s.
The murder victim was Noah Lewis. He was a truck driver. He was shot and killed on the same path that Simone took every night when she got off from work. She worked at a dinner. She would get off at eleven. She didn’t live that far so she walked. She walked every night so she must have walked past Noah’s altercation with his killer.
Noah’s murder happened a day before Simone’s. Simone tried calling 911 on the night she went missing. She called a few times and always hung up. The original theory was that she was afraid of her husband. The cops back then thought she was trying to work up the courage to report him and that’s why hen killed her that night.
Torres knew differently now. Simone was working up the courage. It just wasn’t to report her husband. Her witnessing a crime would match with everything about that day.
Odell told Torres that Simone was acting off that day. He knew something was wrong. She wouldn’t discuss it and so Odell didn’t push it. He chose to drink instead. He woke up to finding his wife’s blood everywhere, but no Simone. Torres asked their daughter if she remembered her mother mentioning a Noah Lewis.
The young woman was fifteen at the time. She was more caught up in her own world than anything that had to do with her parents. She now wants to help. Torres mentioned his theory to her. He told her that this was a possible lead in finding out who murdered her parents.
It was a good thing. Even if she couldn’t see it that way right now because she was still grieving. Noah was in a gang. He was with G-Park. It was believed he was selling drugs and was killed in a rip off. The lead detective that worked that case was now deceased. He died from cancer. He still left behind very detailed notes. He talked to everyone affiliated with Noah. He also made a note of wanting to speak to Marcus again. The cops didn’t know who Marcus was. They went to the beat cop that was first on the scene and he was rather dismissive of them reopening the case.
Detective Brian Foster said he used to be like Torres. Intent on investigating cases that go nowhere. He doesn’t remember a Marcus and he didn’t need to because they found him without Foster’s help. Marcus was kicked out of the G-Parks for getting high on his own supply. He’s been living rough ever since.
They found Marcus. They arrested him for drugs just so they could ask about Noah. Marcus said that everyone always believed it was an inside job. The G-Parks were a mess back then. Darrell Jenkins disappeared right after Noah was killed. And he’s been wanted ever since.
By both police as well as his old gang. He’s been in hiding for the past six years. Voight had Intelligence look into him. His only family member was a cousin that died a few years ago and someone was still using the cousin’s place based on the latest water bill. They quickly found Darrell. He begged them to hide him. He said someone was trying to kill him. He already had a bag packed and it looked like he was ready to escape the city. He eventually admitted that he was afraid of Detective Brian Foster.
Darrell wanted a deal. He wanted a plea agreement before he talked. What he revealed so far was that Foster arrested him once for selling dope. He was just a beat cop and they didn’t make a lot of money so Foster made a deal with Darrell. Darrell knew the G-Parks movements. They could rip them off together. They robbed drug dealers so that Darrell could then sell the drugs for them. Then they split the money. It was going well until Noah fought back. Darrell witnessed Foster killing him. Simone must have seen it because then Foster began following her.
Simone’s daughter remembered him looking at them from an expensive car. Her mother had just walked her over to a neighbor’s place for a sleepover. Dominque had thought that Foster must have been a neighbor. She ended up helping Torres build a case against Foster. Foster’s expensive car was a Porsche.
He bought in his cousin’s name and paid seventy-five grand in cash. Money he got from those drug rips. He also had no reason to be in the neighborhood because he never lived there. Nor was he working. He was off duty when his cell phone pinged in the neighborhood.
This along with Dominque’s testimony was adding credibility to Darrell’s statements. They had enough to bring Foster in for questioning. He was the only cop they talked to about this case. Right after they did, someone called Darrell from a burner. This person scared Darrell so much that he wanted to go on the run.
It was the good cops that stopped him. They got him talking and now they took down a dirty cop. Foster put Simone’s body into a truck that was repossessed. It was after he rolled her up in the carpet like the brother-in-law claimed Odell did.
They found Simone’s body. She was still in the truck that he got rid of in the lake. Foster was arrested for several murders. The family or what remains of them also had a funeral for her as well as Odell. They were good people. They didn’t deserve to die like that. And for what?! Nothing but pure greed.
THE END!
