In tonight’s Chicago PD episode, Detective Imani was off book working her sister’s case. Her sister disappeared when she was young. There’s been sightings over the years. The last one being in Chicago. It’s why Imani stayed there the longest. She’s hoping to pick up her sister’s scent and possibly bring her home.
There’s no telling what her sister has been through. Or what she may want for her future. Imani throwing around Voight’s name to get a bunch of files from Cold Cases set up an alert.
Voight heard about it. He allowed it to continue because he knows how important this case was to Imani. He wouldn’t take this from her.
No sooner did Voight ended the phone call from his buddy that he witnessed a crime. There was a suspect who stole an ATM from a store and killed a woman in his escape.
Voight stayed by that victim’s side until the end. He saw her eyes. He heard the music she had been listening to. He even saw her cell phone with the wallpaper of her kids. He wanted to be the one to make the notification but he received some good news before that could happen. He heard back from the store owner. They said there was a tracker in the ATM.
Voight got the location. He went there by himself. He ended up finding out the thief nearly blew up their hand trying to open the ATM. He heard his screams and it gave him cause to enter without a warrant.
The man he had been opening the stolen ATM was Rabbit. Rabbitt was Voight’s Criminal Informant. He hasn’t heard from his CI in a while because Rabbitt was supposed to have gotten clean. It seems he got off the drugs. He just couldn’t stay away from crime. He denied stealing the ATM. Voight still double checked.
Rabbitt didn’t match either of the descriptions for the two suspects. He also hadn’t known they killed a woman in this last job. He freaked out about his hand. Voight made sure to get him to the hospital. Then he had the hospital run a tox screen on Rabbitt. Rabbitt came back clean. He really wasn’t on the drugs this time.
He also hadn’t wanted to help like he normally does. Voight had to pressure him with possible charges before he’d talk. Rabbitt said the guy that dropped off the ATMs was Deon Rollston.
He only got the name. He claimed not to know the guy all that well. He got tapped because he was good with ATMs. He doesn’t know Deon’s partner’s name or face. Or so he claimed to Voight. Voight knows by now that Rabbitt has his own code. He agreed to wear a wire. It gave them both audio and visual.
Rabbitt later took longer at his house than Imani was comfortable with. She thought he might have done something to wire because it began experiencing interruptions when he met up with Deon. They went into a weed shop.
Deon mentioned Bruiser then the feed cut out. Imani went in as a possible buyer. She saw the moment Deon collapsed. She asked Rabbitt what was happening.
He told her that Deon was crazy and that he was casing the place for the next ATM robbery. Deon has hit five ATMs in eight weeks. The windows were closing with each job. Imani didn’t blow her cover, but she didn’t trust Rabbitt. He seemed to have a good relationship with Voight. So she quietly had a word with her boss. She suspected that Rabbitt messed up the wire on purpose.
Imani told Voight her suspicions. He said he could be objective when it comes to Rabbitt. He hit Rabbitt a little harder on the details. He asked him again who helped him get clean.
Rabbitt kept saying nobody. Only his story soon fell apart when he went out to meet with Deon again. Deon wanted Rabbitt to help him rob the weed dispensary. It just hadn’t been Deon who showed up for the job. It had been Bruiser. The same guy that Rabbitt swore he didn’t know. Bruiser called him “baby”.
Rabbitt told him the police was there. He begged him to run off. They ran in separate directions. Bruiser got away and they caught up to Rabbitt. He couldn’t deny knowing the other suspect. Bruiser was his boyfriend. He tried to make a deal with Voight that Bruiser gets his deal.
Once Voight promised, Rabbitt took them to Deon’s place. Deon took out a gun. He was going to kill Rabbitt or Bruiser so the cops were forced to intervene. Rabbitt got Deon’s gun away from him. He then refused to put it down until Voight takes the cuffs off of Bruiser.
Voight couldn’t do that so they were forced to disarm Rabbitt. Rabbitt kept calling him a liar and he said he was done with him as he was awaiting his plea deal. His boyfriend and Deon were going to be facing the full charges.
Voight also heard what Imani found in her sister’s case and he offered to help if she wants it.
THE END!
