In tonight’s FBI episode, a man was gunned down in broad daylight. The victim was identified as Clint Mathias. He was an undercover cop working on the DHS Taskforce. He was supposed to remain undercover and have no contact with his old world. He broke that one rule by visiting his daughter, Ariel.

She was twelve. She was being raised by her grandmother because Clint lost his wife years ago due to cancer. He missed her and he thought the case was almost over anyways. He was about to identify a white nationalist organization for a potential terrorist attack when he was shot down a mere block away from his daughter’s school.

Luckily, Ariel didn’t see it. She was already going to deal with a lot. She’s now lost both of her parents. She at least got to say goodbye to her dad. He gave her a teddy bear.

She gave him one of her bracelets. It said “fierce” on it. Clint was wearing it when he died and seeing as he was a deputized federal agent – his death became a federal crime. They assumed he had been killed because of the joint taskforce. He was investigating a man named Joe Mask Burns. Burns was later arrested on gun charges. It was the one thing they could get to stick.

Burns didn’t kill Clint. He has an alibi. He also followed Clint the night before. He saw him get into a fight with someone. He took photos. The photos showed that the person Clint fought was his former partner in the gang unit, Hugo Reyna.

The FBI couldn’t understand why the two men fought. Neither could Clint’s Commanding Officer. Lt. Marcus Warren said the two men were close. He didn’t make the connection until the FBI did that Clint transferred to the taskforce as a means of getting away from Reyna.

The two were still partners when they pulled over a suspected heroin supplier. The suspect’s name in that case is Cobi Harkes. Harkes got pulled over on a traffic stop. Clint searched his car and found nothing. Yet, Reyna had a different outcome.

He searched the car and found two kilos of heroin. It was enough to put Harkes in prison awaiting his trial. The same trial that Clint was set to testify in. There’s no telling what Clint was going to say in open court. He’d probably be asked why he transferred away from Reyna.

The feds were of the opinion that Reyna killed his former partner to hide being a dirty cop. They needed to bring him in for questioning. Warren went to bat for the guy. He said that his guys would never do this. Reyna was a pallbearer at Clint’s wife’s funeral. They were close. Warren didn’t want to believe it of the man. It took Jubal pointing out that it would be best if Warren helps them to question Reyna peacefully than the alternative. No one wanted to get into a shootout with one of their own.

Warren agreed to help. He got Reyna to meet him. The feds took him into custody from there. Reyna stated he’s been tempted to cross the line many times. He just never did. Reyna also had an alibi. He was a poker game in a bodega miles away that went for hours. He didn’t hear about his former partner’s murder until afterwards. They verified Reyna’s alibi. He seemingly didn’t kill Clint. He might’ve still played a part in spite of everything. The feds came to suspect maybe Harkes had the man killed and the man was smart.

Far too smart to kill a cop that was about to testify in his favor. He also wouldn’t kill a cop right before his testimony. He’d be instantly suspected. He knew it too. He had an alibi and Warren said that might not matter because he has many foot soldiers pushing his product. He could easily get one of them to do the job. They had all underestimated Clint. Clint’s teddy bear to his daughter hid a micro SD card. It had photos of a man known as Fernando Balboa buying a burner right before the Harkes’s arrest.

They went to go question Balboa. They found Reyna trying to kill him. They stopped Reyna from crossing that line and he finally revealed that Clint did think he was dirty. Its what the fight was about. They had gotten an anonymous tip about heroin being in Harkes’s car. Later when Reyna found the drugs in the car after Clint didn’t, Clint came to believe that the tip had been fake and that it had been Reyna who messaged himself. Its what he intended to testify. Until he got into a fight with Reyna who denied all charges.

Reyna was apparently telling the truth. He didn’t make the false tip. Balboa did. Balboa ran with the Latin Kings. They were a rival gang in an all out war with Harkes’s people. He’s the one that killed Clint. The murder weapon was found at his home. One would think it was a Latin Kings conspiracy to take down Harkes. It hadn’t been. It was someone calling in favors with them to end the war. Balbo’s lawyer that got him off his third strike happened to be Harkes’s brother, Tabias Harkes. This has been a coup all along.

Tab tried to sink his brother by promising peace. This war between the gangs was costing everyone money. They told Tab’s brother what he did and Tab ultimately confessed to everything once he knew his brother was going to walk. He didn’t want to get murdered by his brother for disloyalty. And federal custody was much safer than the street.

Jubal also followed Isobel to a meet with OA and he demanded to know what’s going on.

THE END!
