Ethan made a splashing return to Port Charles during the Friday, April 17 episode.
After leaving a cryptic voicemail to someone unknown about landing in town and being at the pier every day around noon, with hopes he would see them soon, Ethan quickly reunited with his sister, Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening), and then dashed off to see Sonny.
Upon arriving at Sonny’s house, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) opened the door, and it looks like these two will get re-acquainted before he has a chat with the mob boss.
Luke and Sonny were the best of friends, which means he’d literally do anything for the man’s children in the form of protection and favors.
All arrows are pointing to the idea that Ethan will ask Sonny for a job, and with his skills as a con artist – among other talents – Sonny will bring him on board without batting an eyelash.
Sonny needs to surround himself with people he can trust, and Ethan fits the bill on all accounts.
Or so, Sonny thinks. Ethan claimed to Lulu that he was back in town to reconnect with old family and friends; however, during a recent interview, actor Nathan Dean explained that wasn’t the case.
While Ethan was a hero of sorts the last time fans saw him in 2023, a lot of things can change in a short time.
Ethan clearly wasn’t telling Lulu the truth when she met up with him at the docks, so what brought him back to PC?
Ethan is known for his adventurous ways, and as a con artist, he’d often rubbed some pretty powerful people the wrong way.
It’s also not unbelievable to think that he got caught up in some illegal activities and might be under someone’s thumb.
As fans recall, when Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) resurfaced in 2024, he was working for the feds.
They have evidence of Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) admitting she was running Sonny’s crime syndicate, and the organization was dangling that over Jason’s head to get him to do what they wanted.
As the WSB hauled Jason away recently for shooting (so they think) Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) stated that it wouldn’t shock him if the organization forced Jason’s hand to become a WSB agent, thanks to his skill set as a henchman.
Was this foreshadowing another storyline on the horizon? Could the WSB have dirt on Ethan, and rather than lock him up in Steinmauer, they’ve asked him to become a mole to bury Sonny, for good?
It may not even be the WSB, but the FBI, who is looking to finally send the mob boss to the slammer!
Plus, they might not only be holding prison over Ethan’s head, but possibly prison time for his mom, Holly Sutton (Emma Samms).
Holly has finally settled down with her own con-scams, but was rubbing shoulders with Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and stealing diamonds back in 2024.
The WSB may have information that would send her away, so the last thing Ethan would want is his aging mother in prison.
Add in the fact that it feels as if Kristina and Ethan could share a romantic spark – which could complicate things for the man if he’s working to bring Sonny down – and it looks like he might be in way over his head with this “con” job.
General Hospital spoilers note that the last thing Ethan would want is to betray Sonny, but he might be stuck between a rock and a hard place, so only time will tell.
