General Hospital (GH) recap for Thursday, July 23, indicates that Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) was given a departure explanation before a big reveal involving Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson).
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) also plotted Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) grim fate, so here’s how all the drama played out on Thursday’s GH episode.
While Scout Quartermaine (Kayden Brenna Tokarski) practiced for her charity swim in the lake, Drew watched in his wheelchair and secretly moved his hand.
Nearby, Michael dismissed Alexis Davis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) suggestion that Drew might be a changed man if he ever recovered.
In the boathouse, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) tried to convince Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) that they needed to flee with the kids since they were running out of time without the leverage Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) was supposed to give them.
Willow refused to bolt and eventually realized Nina had hit the sheets with Brennan, so she wasn’t happy about that development.
If they couldn’t find a Drew solution, Willow suggested Drew could end up swimming with Scout while she went to prison.
Between that and Alexis’ warning about not letting Drew’s chair get too close to the water’s edge, Nina seemed to have a lightbulb moment about potentially trying to drown Drew.
At Bobbie’s, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) talked to Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) about Maxie and her kids moving to Australia since Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) got a job there.
That news meant James West (Easton Winn) was leaving town as well, but Mac Scorpio (John J. York) and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) didn’t want him to end things on bad terms with Cody.
Although James previously took his anger out on Cody over the Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) situation, Cody showed him a video of the new foal at the stables and named him “West” after James.
That got an excited response from James, whose fury had faded.
Cody also returned James’ cowboy hat and gave him a hug, so they got their relationship back on track.
At Deception, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) joined Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton), so there was some bickering over Maxie’s shares until Michael arrived with an announcement.
Maxie trusted Michael to do what was best for Deception, so he admitted she sold her shares to him.
Tracy was hopeful about Michael creating some Quartermaine unity, but he reiterated that he’d do what was best for the company.
At the Metro Court pool, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) pulled Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) aside to confess that he knew the truth about Ross Cullum’s (Andrew Hawkes) shooting and extend an offer of support.
Charlotte Cassadine (Bluesy Burke) also praised Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) for saving a boy from drowning recently, so Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner) privately teased him about having a fan.
Charlotte wound up bickering with Rocco over all the Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) drama, so Gio checked on her later.
After Emma mentioned Gio’s new recording contract, Charlotte was forced to watch them acting all lovey-dovey.
In Laura Collins’ (Genie Francis) office, she gave him a heads-up on Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) looking for the missing Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) evidence.
Dante confessed to destroying it for Rocco’s sake and vowed to take care of the Anna situation.
While Sonny visited Laura to discuss Rocco, Anna was busy confronting Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) about his demotion at the PCPD.
Chase owned up to his mistakes, but he made it clear that he didn’t get rid of the incriminating Willow traffic cam footage.
Anna still believed Chase made a good detective, so she pushed for help digging into Cassius and Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) involvement with Cullum along with the missing shooting evidence from the pier.
Chase was willing to do what Anna wanted in exchange for a chance to work as a detective again.
Dante spoke with Anna alone later and confirmed that the Cullum shooting proof went missing on his watch.
Anna knew Dante wasn’t sloppy and that there must be a reason for his actions, so she suggested maybe it was better to leave that case closed.
Anna also pushed Dante to get along with Chase since their detective partnership could resume soon.
Once Anna was alone, a Peter August (Wes Ramsey) hallucination popped up.
Anna realized Dante must be protecting Rocco, so “Peter” suggested she could move on from that now that she’d figured it out.
Instead, “Peter” wanted Anna to focus on her fury toward Cassius and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) since he considered them responsible for Anna’s torment.
“Peter” told Anna that his siblings were just like him and their father, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove).
General Hospital spoilers say Anna’s revenge will bring some chaos down the road, so stay tuned.
