General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that some fans may be confused about Bluesy Burke’s (Charlotte Cassadine) status with the show, but we’ve got some clarification for you.
Burke is indeed exiting the role of Charlotte for now, but the plan is for her to reprise the role when she can.
Of course, some viewers saw the writing on the wall when Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) suddenly realized boarding school was the answer to Charlotte’s behavioral problems.
Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) ultimately agreed to Valentin’s plan, so now even Charlotte has accepted that her parents aren’t budging.
In the September 28 episode, Charlotte said farewell to Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) since she’s headed to St. Agatha’s in Maine.
Danny offered reassurance that he’d be there when Charlotte came back as they shared a tough goodbye.
As for why Charlotte’s exit is happening, it’s because Bluesy Burke needed time away for college in another state.
SOD recently revealed some behind-the-scenes details in interviews with GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini and Bluesy Burke.
Although Burke considered taking a gap year, Valentini encouraged her to make her continued education a priority.
That said, Valentini assured Burke that she could still do comeback stints when her schedule allows.
“Bluesy is still a part of the General Hospital family, and we worked it out so that she will come back on her holidays and school breaks,” Valentini said. “We are incredibly proud of her as she begins this exciting new chapter and starts her college journey.”
Burke also admitted it was hard to leave GH behind for the time being, but Valentini’s attitude left her feeling hopeful about the future.
“He was already talking about, when could I possibly come back?” Burke said about her last day of filming. “And that was very comforting, because obviously, I do want to come back!”
Burke insisted it “meant the world” to her when Valentin gave her a push toward this college decision and let her know the role would still be available to her.
In other words, there are no plans to recast Charlotte since Burke intends to return here and there.
Although Burke’s exit isn’t meant to be forever, her departure news has been confirmed for now.
General Hospital spoilers say there’ll be plenty of drama happening without Charlotte in the meantime, so stay tuned!
