In tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy episode, Blue was back at the hospital. It just wasn’t going into an OR anytime soon. Richard didn’t trust him. He doesn’t like that he’s back. He hates that Bailey allowed for Blue to come back and so he told him that he will never step into Richard’s OR ever again. Not sure if he could keep such a promise.
It still scared Blue. Blue was already on thin ice with Simone so he didn’t notice the signs. It was Bryant and Jules who saw it. Simone had an abortion. She realized she wanted kids in the future. She didn’t necessarily want them now.
Simone was still a resident. She has a few more years before she becomes an attendee. She planned on holding off on kids and she even thought she could work through the process. She nearly passed out at work. Her friends covered for her. The only one who didn’t know about was Lucas. Lucas could’ve been the father. The possibility was gone.
Jules and Bryant were helping to cover for Simone. Blue knew about the medication. He didn’t know how it affected his friend. He was too busy trying to get back into the OR.
Richard stuck him in the VIP Lounge. He had to deal with rich jerks. They demanded that he’d fixed them a drink and complained about the actual medical treatments. Blue was dealing with that as Jules found something in Simone’s uterus. She didn’t know what it was. She said they had to page OB. Simone replied that enough coworkers have seen inside her.
She wanted to keep it between them. Jules respected her enough to take a picture of the ultrasound so that she could use it as a reference in whatever it was.
Bryant returned to service because Simone didn’t want him sticking around. He ran into an angry Link. Link has been snapping at everyone all day. His shoulder hadn’t fully healed.
He was developing a dependency on the pain meds. The very ones that his wife threw out. Link has been hiding from her how much in pain he was and that he was over relying on meds just to get through his day. It was no longer about the pain when the meds entered the picture. It was an addiction. And Link was a jerk without his fix.
He snapped at everyone. He had a patient with a tumor. He opened him up to fix his spine when he found something extra. The tumor had rapidly grown on him. It couldn’t be fixed with his current surgical plan.
He had to adapt. He also had to do it fast because the man’s back was literally opened. He couldn’t pack him up to spend the rest of his life on his back. The poor man was already struggling. He was divorced. It didn’t stop him from continuing to work with his arguing ex-wife and indeed she was still his emergency contact.
The two were fighting right before surgery. It one of the reasons he was rushed into surgery to begin with. Link was figuring it out. It was a long drawn out process. Which was why he missed Jo’s calls. Jo quit her job. She was going to stop being a doctor. She felt she was too traumatized to work. Its such a shame her husband didn’t have that same ethic.
Jo was handing in her badge when Jules found her. She asked her for her help. Simone consented to Jo looking. It was revealed that Simone hadnt been pregnant with a viable pregnancy.
All that agonizing. Simone was so upset with herself for not seeing an OBGYN. Jo told her it was fine. They had to remove the remains because she was going septic and that meant she needed surgery. Simone refused to be put to sleep for it. She didn’t want to die on the table like her mother did. Jo agreed to let her stay awake for the surgery.
It was a success and Bryant met up with her after the success of his own surgery. Link got his act together to figure out a new surgery. Something never done before until he did it. It just didn’t stop him from refilling his pain meds afterwards.
Bailey also realizes she was micromanaging everyone. She was doing it at home with her husband. She told him how to put the silverware in the dishwasher. She was doing it at the hospital.
She was telling Winston how to run the Residency Program. It got so bad that he had to call her out on it. He was covering for three doctors and was doing her favor by running the program. The least she could was allow him to do it his way. Lucas meanwhile never found out about Simone’s surgery. He was too busy arguing with his aunt.
Lucas finally admitted that he had to move out. There was no way for Amelia to take him seriously as a doctor if she still saw him as a kid. He was moving out and he’d consider going into neurosurgery. He wasn’t sure where his heart leads yet. Amelia had amazing advice in all of the toil she put him through so he had to learn his way.
And Blue found himself back into surgery. This time he was following Dr. Norton’s lead. He wasn’t going to wait for Richard’s permission or blessing. He wanted to keep honing his craft even the VIP patients were notoriously difficult.
THE END!
