General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that John Oliver is slated to appear on the ABC soap in a major role, and he’s also headed for a guest run on Days of Our Lives (DOOL).
The host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver dropped the news during the June 28 episode of his show, letting fans know he’s set to appear on both daytime dramas very soon.
Oliver stated his appearance in Port Charles takes place the week of June 29 and informed fans that he’s already taped a week’s worth of shows on DOOL.
ABC issued a press release that revealed the Emmy-award-winning comedian will have a ‘significant guest role’ on GH, and his episodes are set to air Thursday, July 2, Friday, July 3, and Monday, July 6.
Oliver made it clear during his announcement that he didn’t want to ruin anything about his time on the show.
With that said, he did reveal a picture of a scene he’s in. Dressed in a suit and tie, his hair dyed black, and men surrounded in S.W.A.T.-like black uniforms and guns.
Oliver looks mighty serious in the photo. General Hospital’s Executive Producer, Frank Valentini, issued a statement about Oliver’s appearance on the show.
In this, Valentini notes, “When John Oliver publicly threw down the gauntlet and said he wanted to appear on a soap, we didn’t hesitate for a second.”
Valentini went on to say, “He was everything you’d hope he’d be: prepared, professional, funny, and genuinely kind to everyone on set.”
He closed with, “He plays an integral character in the story, and I can’t wait for fans to see who he crosses paths with in Port Charles.”
Of course, earlier this year during the March 8 episode of Last Week Tonight, Stephen A. Smith (Brick) talked about his recurring run on GH as Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) trusted associate.
In the segment, Oliver begged that he wanted to be on a daytime drama, saying, “Call me, soaps! I am available, I’m willing to travel, and I want this more than you could understand.”
Oliver also noted in a statement that, “General Hospital was everything I hoped it would be. It’s a true honor to be a small stain on the history of this illustrious show.”
Meanwhile, Days of Our Lives fans can gear up to see Oliver in the land of Salem on August 11, 12, and 14.
General Hospital spoilers suggest it’s going to be a major week in the land of Port Charles, as John Oliver visits the little town and offers some explosive moments.
