In tonight’s Law & Order SVU episode, Emma Burns was pushed out of a car not far from the hospital. She was bruised. She showed signs of sexual assault. It’s a good thing a good Samaritan spotted the whole thing or it might have taken the paramedics a little longer to get Emma into treatment.
She was sixteen. SVU were called almost instantly. Finn was back and he was working the case with Griff. They were at the hospital awaiting Emma’s parents when they spotted a teenage boy acting stranger. He ran when they tried to talk to him.
He dropped his cell phone. It was considered abandoned property because the cop found it on the ground. They even got lucky in that there was no lock on it.
They saw that Ethan Weiss was messaging his other friends about no one snitching. They found Ethan’s social media. They saw that there was a big party last night at someone’s house. Only these kids went to a high-end private school. They were all healthy and they knew their rights. They demanded a lawyer after the cops picked them all up.
Their parents as well as the lawyers then showed up at the station. They were making a big fuss. They were demanding that kids be released. ADA Carisi didn’t have a case so he promised Immunity to the first person that was willing to flip on the others. Ethan agreed to talk.
He said he was feeling sleepy that night. He crashed in a room and he woke up to his friends freaking out that Emma was dead. Before that happened, he saw her acting weird. She was unsteady on her feet and she went into a guest room with Matt Alperson.
Matt took a urine test. He proved that he had been drugged that night. The same goes for Emma. Both kids were drugged lorazepam. Something they claimed they didn’t take willingly.
They were drugged by an adult. Talia Fedorov throws parties in her apartment. She was an adult woman with a child of her own. She supplied the booze. She also doused everyone with drugs. She also weirdly told Emma that Matt has a crush on her and that she should go for it. No, adult should be saying that to a child.
Talia would later claim she did this because she was bullied as a kid. Her son was bullied. She just wanted everyone to be safe and happy. It still didn’t stop the cops from showing up at her apartment with a warrant. They searched the whole place. They found out that she has secret cameras hidden in the guest room.
She was a voyeur that got off on watching people being intimate. She also supplied the drugs so that the kids wouldn’t disappoint her. She was sick and she was arrested. They had her dead to rights after they found the drugs. It was a prescription filled in her name.
Talia didn’t think anything would happen to her because her father is a former judge. Just him showing up at her arraignment got he released without bail. Her lawyer tried to plea this down to a misdemeanor.
Carisi didn’t take it. The case was moved to a judge friend of her father’s. Judge Ferorov was the mentor to this judge. This judge owed his thirty year career to a child molester’s father. Carisi tried to politely get him to recuse himself and all it did was tick off the judge even more.
He was annoying all throughout the trial. Captain Benson had to take the stand. Talia’s lawyer asked Benson if Emma has ever claimed to have been sexually assaulted before.
There was already a law in place to protect victims of sex abuse from having to reveal their sex lives. The lawyer was breaking it and the judge let him. He demanded that Benson answer or get thrown in jail. Benson took jail. She refused to admit that Emma told her that she had been abused as a child by her uncle. Emma’s uncle did abuse her and she told her mother.
Her mother made sure she was never alone with that uncle again. She also accepted the uncle’s money to put Emma in a great school.
Emma revealed this to Talia because she thought she was a friend and Talia tried to use it against. Emma did agree to let Benson reveal her secret. She also took the stand and made sure that Talia was found guilty of her abuse.
But the fact that Benson was held in contempt of court has given Tynan her reasoning. She took Benson’s shield and badge tonight. It finally forced Griff to pick a side. He dug up the information in his father’s case. The ones that could bring Tynan down.
