In tonight’s NCIS: Origins episode, sometimes members of the NIS needed to escape. They needed to reset after a hard day. They would go to the movies to help. The ladies saw “The Bodyguard” and the guys saw “Reservoir Dogs”. They were all enjoying themselves when their pagers went off. They were informed that a Marine reported her two sons missing.
They weren’t at soccer practice. She was getting worried so the team went looking for her boys. They found them at a wine warehouse that was pretty deserted. The boys had been dead for hours by then.
The shooters were still there because they shot at NIS. Franks got lucky. He ducked in time. They returned fire and were able to capture two of the shooters. They killed the other. They were Flaco’s men. They didn’t know how he was involved, but somehow he was. His men shifted blame. They claimed they didn’t kill anyone.
They were sent there to guard the warehouse. They weren’t really talking and Franks didn’t get the chance to grill them before he was interrupted. Wheeler knows how much Franks hates that.
Only Wheeler had no choice. He said there was a restructure in place. The Pendleton office was going to be broken up. They would all be sent to different NIS offices and that this was their last week together. Admiral Cane falling like he did had ensured that sexual harassment was being treated fairly.
They also brought in a civilian director to take over. His name is Tom Morrow. Gail naturally made a quip about his name when Mary Jo reminded her that now was not the time. They were about to be separated.
Franks has never involved himself in the politics of the job. He didn’t feel like starting now. He instead wanted to focus on the case in the week that they had left. He had the team do their research.
The kids were doing a dare from their friends to steal a gallon of wine. The question was why they were killed over it. One of the men they captured was someone Manny knew. Lala used that to get permission to call him in WitSec. Agent Swanson later gave the all clear so Lala got to speak to him again.
Manny was doing good. He was in a small town now. He said that the sheriff was looking to retire. He thought Lala could take over the job if she leaves NIS. Lala wasn’t like the other guys. She would have to prove herself all over again and she didn’t want the hassle. She agreed to think about it with Manny. She told Gibbs about it. Gibbs tried to stop her leaving only there was nothing he could do. Franks told him as much when Gibbs sought advice. He said the best minds in the office were trying to keep them together. Until they found something, they have to play the cards they’re dealt.
Manny had told Lala that the man has a son. He played stupid most of the time unless it came to his son. Franks used that. He showed the gangbanger the dead boys’ bodies. He identified the killer. He said he went by the nickname of Hauser and that he actually saw him on the news. He was connected to the theater bombing. It turns out Abe Prutit was still at it. His last Sanctuary got collected by the government for his crime because he didn’t technically own the land. He started a new one.
He even advertised for it on the radio. He asked people to come to his new sanctuary. He began a church and what’s more he still remained dangerous. He killed his lawyer last time to get out of prison. He had Flaco’s men stealing wine for him. The team thought the wine was being sold to fund this new supposed Sanctuary.
Their tech guys said what was found in the wine was what Pruitt wanted. He was smuggling guns. Flaco was helping with the trucks he took from Rico Luna. They were in it together.
Flaco just didn’t know how crazy Pruitt really was. Pruitt was abducted Franks’s brother Mason. By time the brain trust found out where the new Sanctuary was, Mason was being held at gunpoint. Pruitt was demanding that no one come in and they couldn’t do that. This was no longer an NIS case.
The FBI were involved now as well. They heard a gunshot from inside and they had to breech. Pruitt sent off a smoke bomb to try to deter them. Franks still took him down. Gibbs also took a bullet to the vest for Mason.
Mason had been tricked to going there. He thought he could peacefully get his land back in Texas. It was all a ruse because Pruitt was good at making people feel at ease.
He finally got arrested and this time there was no getting out of it. The FBI was handling their arrest, but Lala had noticed a car following her. It stopped after they closed the case only she had been wrong. It was never following her. It was following Randy. Randy got abducted and no one knew because they were all celebrating keeping the Pendleton office open.
The brain trust that Vera put together had come up with a rebranding theory. Wheeler pitched it and it worked. They stopped being NIS. They were now NCIS. They told him what to say and it worked.
And Lala was still planning on leaving NCIS when Gibbs finally asked her to stay with him – she agreed and they had a happily ever after. Even though it didn’t last forever.
THE END!
