On tonight’s episode of NCIS: ORIGINS, Lieutenant Junior Grade Eric Reed was found in the water the day after his ship made port. It landed in Gibbs’s turf. He wasn’t even there a full day when he went missing and was found in the water the next morning. It was an NIS case. Gibbs was on it. He also had to work with an old nemesis, Dwayne Pride.

They had met eleven years prior to this case. He and his dad were in New Orleans at the time. Gibbs was stationed there and his dad came for a visit.

His dad had to start drink rather heavily. It was his wedding anniversary. He tends to get morose around that time and Gibbs left him alone at the bar for less than five minutes. He came out to see Pride knocking his dad out.

Gibbs tried to get in his face. He got tossed out of the club by the bouncers and so did his dad. Gibbs thought that was unfair because he felt his dad was the victim there. He would’ve pressed charges too if Pride hadn’t announced he was with the Sheriff’s department.

His dad didn’t want the trouble. Gibbs also didn’t want to get into trouble at work because of dispute with authorities. Since then, he’s hated Pride. He cursed when he saw him again at the crime scene because now they have to work together.

Pride was with the Panama office of NIS. He recognized Gibbs when he saw him. He just pretended not to and that annoyed Gibbs even more. Pride was involved because they thought the dead sailor might be connected to their smuggling ring down in Panama.

Someone was moving military weapons throughout the ports. Both offices wanted to catch them. They had to work together and their probies had a problem with each other. Franks honestly got on really well Pride’s boss, Dan McLane.

They were both Country boys at heart. They were joking and coming up with nicknames for each other. Pride also revealed what really happened down in New Orleans. While Gibbs was in the bathroom, his father tried to fight the musicians for not playing his wife’s favorite song.

He took a swing first and Pride was defending himself. He could’ve arrested the old man. He didn’t. He told Gibbs about it and Gibbs tried to verify the story. He called his dad’s story. He’s waiting to hear back from him.

Gibbs was so busy competing with Pride that he didn’t notice that Mary Jo was right. They have a testosterone problem. There was just too much of it. Mary Jo said with so much in the room that a woman was bound to be left for dead. She was right.

McLane was old school. Meaning he tended to dismiss women’s opinions. He wouldn’t let Vera talk and she’s the one that put together the intra-agency program. He wouldn’t let Lala go undercover because he thought that was men’s work. He and Franks agreed to send in Pride and Gibbs.

Both men still had issues with each other. They tried to arm wrestle. There was no clear winner because everyone was focused on Randy trying to cheer them both on. Randy however said that Pride won. Gibbs was so upset that he took the anger with him into the undercover job. He was a buyer.

Pride was pretending to be a weapons broker. They had to sell their cover so they actually did fight it out. It helped clear the air. It also sold their story. They got guns. Pride apologized for disrespecting Gibbs’s dad. He said the older man reminded him of his own father.

His daddy was a mean drunk. He has a lot of misplaced anger. He laughs about it with his wife. He and Linda make it work by going with the flow. He offered some marital advice to Gibbs as well.

Gibbs needed to take Diane to Randy’s stand up comedy routine. Gibbs not wanting her in the same room as Lala was going to come back to bite him if he didn’t take care of it now. Gibbs said they’d have another problem if he didn’t stop talking. Speaking like that over an open line probably had Gibbs worried Lala would hear about it.

The guys got their meeting with the seller. The person moving weapons through the naval ports. They found out the same time as Vera and Lala did. The women kept on with the investigation.

There was a cargo manifest in Reed’s pockets when he died. They got the man that signed off on it. He said his family were being threatened. They were threatened by Captain Ellis. Who also proved to be the seller. Gibbs and Pride met him earlier when they went to the scene of the crime. And so a shootout occurred the moment Ellis identified them as feds.

Gibbs and Pride were able to capture their guy. Both teams made a great arrest. They took down weapons smuggler. Barrett liked the idea so much that he adopted Vera’s intra-agency program. He renamed it Fed Five. He even claimed it was his idea. He had the men take a photo to go with the launch.

Vera was completely left out. McLane tried to dismiss her and that’s when Franks fell out of love with him. He said Vera wasn’t his to dismiss. He also apologized to Lala because she deserved to be in the field.

Gibbs heard back from his dad. His dad did try to fight everyone. He was super drunk. Gibbs and Pride were able to put the whole thing behind them. And Gibbs tried to follow Pride’s advice of going with the flow.

He brought Diane to Randy’s comedy night and Randy made everyone laugh.

THE END!
