In tonight’s Sheriff Country episode, Sheriff Mickey Fox recently learned of a synthetic opioid spreading through the town. It was being pushed by the Stoyanovs. The Stoyanovs were an Eastern European American family. Konstantin Stoyanov used to run things until he had a stroke.

Now, it’s his son known as Sonny that was running the business. His methods were more brutal. He had a bunch of women captive somewhere in Deadwater. He was dangerous. The only one in the family that didn’t seem to have an angle was his mother. She opened a bakery in town. She has no known ties to the institution. Nor does she seem aware that her bakery was being used for meetings between her mafia family and the cartel.

The cartel is why Sonny was being more volatile than his father. He was doing his best to keep up with them. They were encroaching on the Stoyanovs’s territory. It still wasn’t a good enough reason to get involved in a deadly drug or slavery, but that was his justification all the same. The DEA wanted eyes on them.

They were willing to use Wes Fox to close their case. Not that Wes was interested in playing ball. The charges against him and the co-op were dropped. He also wasn’t all that interested in working with his supposedly dead wife.

Their marriage wasn’t legal so she was technically just an ex. She had been an undercover DEA Agent at the time. She was now back with the DEA as a Deputy Director and she used Mickey to compel Wes to work with them.

Wes still loves his town. He was a drug grower. He wasn’t a human trafficker. He wanted to help those girls being kept prisoner and so he followed Eva’s plan. She had Wes approach his old friend, Petar. Petar had bought up Wes’s land and Wes was supposed to ask to buy it back.

The plan was to get Petar on the hook for making an backdoor deal with Wes. They could then use it to force him in providing information on his boss. There was just one issue.

Petar didn’t fall for the trap. He wisely stayed loyal knowing that Wes will always be the sheriff’s father. He was willing to trust him. Wes was out and Mickey had a backup plan. They had a surprise fire inspection at the bakery. It was enough for the DEA to plant a listening device in there using CalFire. Sharon was a good sister that way. She felt bad Mickey’s mom came back from the dead.

Something Wes couldn’t get over. Wes kept butting heads with Eva of their past. He was hurt because he used to believe she was great love of his life. She was the one that got away and he had always blamed himself for her death.

Then to find out it was all a lie was something he needed time with. Wes was still trying to work Petar even as they got a listening device inside the bakery. They heard Sonny mock Petar. The way he put Petar in charge of every little task. And it was all a joke because Sonny realized they were listening in.

How did he find out? He found out because of Wes. Wes passed the tip onto Petar that they planted a bug inside of the bakery. He did it as a means of gaining Petar’s trust and it worked.

Sure, Eva gave him the idea. She was going to give him false information to pass on. She didn’t know about Wes using the idea with a different tip was going to happen or that it would work. Wes gained an in with Petar. He also wasted Sharon, Mickey, and Eva’s efforts at the bakery. Wes was a known disruptor. He liked being an outlaw.

He allegedly liquidated his whole estate to put in a trust fund for Skye. Only he managed to stash away a nice little retirement plan in addition to it.

He gave it to Travis because he heard from his former son-in-law that Fraley Horizons was on the brink of bankruptcy. The shift in focus alongside his sister’s many crimes had ensured the company was struggling to survive. Travis had no choice. Wes gave him money and it wasn’t enough to stop him from selling the company. He even blackmailed his sister to ensure it would happen.

Mickey realized she couldn’t work with her parents anymore so she quit the taskforce. She was going to find those girls with her own team. She wasn’t going to rely on her parents or their actions.

She enlisted Boone. She knew she could rely on him. It was only once he began working with Cass and Hank that they finally closed the Mary Elliott case. The woman had been killed by her best friend’s son. The guy grew up with her kids. He was jealous that his family wasn’t as well off as the Elliotts. He switched Andy’s medication to knock him out the night. And he was going to rob the place.

Mary interrupted him. She saw his face. He was worried she’d tell someone and he killed her. His mom may or not have known. She claimed she hadn’t seen the fight. She did on the other hand admit to being in love with Mary. They were carrying on a secret affair behind their husband’s backs. It was a different time back then. They were afraid to live their truths. It brought more questions, but ultimately there was closure for Mary’s sons. They even hugged each other for the first time in thirty years.

And Mickey was so concerned about those girls that she didn’t notice something was off with Boone only she did notice when her father later went missing.

THE END!
