On tonight’s Survivor 50 finale, for its 50th season, “Survivor” changed up the final episode. They brought in a whole audience in addition to the traditional jury. They also doubled the reward money.
The winner got the winnings from their original season on top of the season tonight. Only tensions were high after Cirie left. Tiffany was feeling the hurt and so she pushed people away. Tiffany getting emotional wasn’t helping her game. She yelled at Aubrey on that beach.
She accused her of wanting to put her name down at the last tribal. Tiffany claimed the only reason she was still there was because she won. And it’s hard to point fingers when Tiffany herself wrote Aubrey’s name down.
Aubrey at least tried to be nice. Maybe Tiffany should’ve ignored the original plan to focus on the game. The guys were building an alliance. They easily outnumbered the women on the beach.
The guys came up with a plan. Whoever wins the next challenge, stays. The other woman automatically gets voted out. They didn’t want to be sitting next to Aubrey or Tiffany in the final three. Tiffany had a lot of friends. Aubrey also was a proven underdog. She’s returned multiple times to the show and was considered a secret threat.
Though no one was a bigger threat than Cirie. Cirie was asked about her powers tonight. The producers and even Jeff were amazed at how she powered the game in her favor.
The only reason she got eliminated was because Rizo blindsided her. He was good at that. He started out as an ally until he turned on her. He did it for his own game of course. He kinda had to and still he was going to face questions about it if he faces the jury. The guys’ plan on this being all male final three. They’ll turn on each other too once they make it to that final three.
They just had to make it through the Immunity Challenge first. Rizo didn’t even bother at the challenge because he still has an idol to play. He let the others battle it out for the necklace.
They ran through an obstacle course that ended at a puzzle. Jonathan was in the lead almost from the start. He was in great shape in spite of all those days on the island.
He made it to the puzzle first just to have Tiffany quickly come up behind him. She nearly finished her puzzle before him. They were neck and neck all the way to the last piece and only then did Jonathan win Immunity.
Tiffany knew she was at risk. It’s what pushed her to start playing the social game again. Tiffany approached the guys with her own plan. She wanted to remove Aubrey. She went on and on about Aubrey being a threat. She’s survived before. She’s played this game before. She’s made actual friends on the jury.
She can’t easily be removed if she makes it to the final four. Rizo was at least honest with Tiffany when she talked to him one on one. He told her that she was too much of a challenge destroyer. He was worried she’d get rid of his allies to take the third place.
The others had at least listened to Tiffany’s pitch. She ended up feeling like they were toying with her in the end, but they stayed seated to hear her. Tiffany then said screw it to the social game aspect. She went off on them at the next tribal council. She said that she won the same amount as Joe. Why is she a threat and he’s fine?
She also pointed out how asinine it was to be told she was too good at challenges as if she wasn’t surviving based on being good. Tiffany just went off. She knew she was being voted out and no longer cared about how others saw her.
Tiffany had every reason to not bow her head. She was right about the guys. They all voted her out and they kept Aubrey because they felt for sure that one of them could beat her in the fire making contest. They hadn’t even been sure if there would be a fire making contest. Things got changed around for the 50th season.
They still knew they’d rather face Aubrey than Tiffany because Tiffany might defeat one of them. And that’s why she got voted out in the final five.
Aubrey also knew what alliance she did build with the guys was over once Tiffany was out. It’s the way of the game. Aubrey knew she couldn’t rely on them anymore. She also was there when they read out the last message. It didn’t give any sort of clue of what might happen next.
They were still left wondering if it was fire or something else by time they showed up the next morning. They were then told they had to drop the balls into a spiral. They couldn’t afford to make a mistake. They kept dropping more balls into the spiral.
No funny jokes! It’s what happened. There was Rizzo practicing fire making during his off time on the beach when it all came down to a balance act. The spiral act left two still standing.
It was either Joe and Aubrey. Aubrey really was a secret threat the whole time. She wanted that guaranteed spot in the final three. She went on to win her first Immunity Challenge when it counted. She broke up the guys’ plan. She might also have broken up their alliance because the fans voted for fire making. And Aubrey gets to choose who has to make a fire.
Aubrey didn’t trust the guys. Only she counted herself as a fair person. She decided to take Joe with her into the final three and this was in spite of him being great fire. He could make a fire in seconds. He could’ve easily defeated either Jonathan or Rizo. Both of whom have lost at the fire challenge before.
Rizo still struggles at the task. Joe felt so bad for him that he had to help him. He taught Rizo how to make a fire. Jonathan didn’t need help because he’s been practicing ever since he came back to “Survivor”. He made a fire practically everyday.
Things changed once Joe began helping Rizo. He got better at fire making. It worried both Jonathan and even Aubrey. Aubrey said her game was similar to that of Rizo’s. They were underdogs. Rizo was also really good at selling himself. Its how he made it so far in the game. Aubrey wanted Rizo to lose. She talked to Jonathan. She told him what was at stake if he lost. He kept practicing and he figured he had fire making on such lock that he thought only a message from God could stop him from winning the challenge.
He was right about that too because even Rizo soon figured out he couldn’t beat Jonathan. Jonathan was just too good. Jonathan was already feeding the fire when Rizo accidentally blew out his own fire. Everything happened just the way Aubrey wanted it too. Joe felt sad about losing Rizo though. It’s hard not to feel for a man who falls short each time at fire. It was Rizo’s personal curse. He didn’t win. Again. He still stood amongst giants this season and found his place there. He’d probably have voted for Joe no matter what and that goes double since Joe tried to help him with fire.
And then there was three. Aubrey, Joe, and Jonathan made it to the final three. They suddenly had to make their case in front of the same jury they eliminated. Before they made it that far, they got one last gift. They got an amazing meal and they got to see their loved ones again. Jonathan got to see his brother. Aubrey got to see her mom. Joe got to see his wife. It was a heartfelt moment that couldn’t be replaced. They should definitely keep that going forward. It gave the final three the push they needed to keep going.
Now, the jury naturally had an opinion on everybody. They asked about what led them there in the final three. They were forced to admit to the people they betrayed that they did oust them and that they had to do it for their own game. Joe tried being the gentleman the last time he played. It got him nowhere. He came back this season with a more cutthroat mentality and that’s why he betrayed so many people. Jonathan also admitted to coming up with the means of ousting Ozzy. Remember these guys were friends with Ozzy and they all sunk him.
Emily then asked a very important question. She asked them to all give a critique of their season thus far. She asked for honesty. What she got was Aubrey trying to squirm away from any responsibility. The same goes for Joe. Cirie brought up that they all had to babysit him at one point because he always had to wait until everyone else decided before making a decision of his own. They used to make fun of it behind his back. Cirie had no problem telling him to his face that they had to take turns on who babysat Joe for that tribal council that day.
Jonathan was probably the most honest out of the three. He happily admitted to working on himself on the off chance he gets called upon to return to “Survivor”. He proved that he was willing to do what it takes to survive. The jury voted that same night, but the votes weren’t revealed at the time. Jeff instead said he’d count the votes once they made it back to Los Angeles and in front of a live audience. The final three got to shower. They got to put on new outfits. They got to eat real food again. Only then was a winner was named. It was revealed early on that no one trusted Joe to win this thing because he literally received no votes.
The winner of “Survivor 50” proved to be Aubrey. Aubrey managed to hold on. She pulled off an impossible win at the final moment in the final four and she was also good at friendships. It’s one of the reasons they didn’t want her to make it to the final three. They were all worried that her story would sell well to the jury and it turns out they had been right to worry because Aubrey won the whole thing. Congratulations Aubrey!
They’ve already began putting together Season 51 and so the drama on the beach will continue.
THE END!
