In tonight’s The Amazing Race episode, thirteen teams competed on all new season of “The Amazing Race”. It was officially a race around the globe. Unofficially, it was a true test of relationships. There were couples, parents and children, best friends, and siblings. There were a pair of sisters that have never had conflict.
This show was going to introduce them to that. The first step wasn’t even a race. They each received an Express Pass at the start and then got to choose whether or not to play it. The majority didn’t want to use it so early in the game.
They also had to find their own way to the location. That’s when the race truly began. They had to make it to BC Place Stadium. Again, they were split decisions. One pair raced their on foot and the others mostly took a cab there. Erin and Javi decided to use their Express Pass right then and there.
They didn’t want to do the quest at the stadium. Its fair. They had to bungee jump over the stadium. They had to wear bear claws and try to catch fish in the air. They couldn’t touch the string attached to the fish or else they had to climb to the top of the stadium all over again and try a second time.
There was one other couple that called out Erin and Javi for using the Express Pass. They said it must’ve been Erin who made the decision because she’s the controlling one.
Erin did say they joined the show because she was hoping to see the man she married again, but her passive aggressiveness doesn’t give others the excuse to throw dirt on them. Not when they all just met. Erin and Javi seemed to have been the smartest because that fly fishing was harder than it looked. They couldn’t take an elevator or getting pulled back onto the platform.
They had to climb all those stairs with each try. Plus, its not like they could both jump off. There was just one person doing it and its usually whichever lost the fight or a thumb war. T
hey eventually got it. Erin and Javi were in first place for a bit due to using that Express Pass. They were the first to make it to the Maritime museum where they learned maritime flags. They had to learn what flag meant what because their next stop would be onboard a boat where someone would yell out distress signals. And they had to put up the correct flags.
Bungee jumping may not be their strength. Then again memorization can just as easily defeat the more physically-minded people. Erin and Javi’s lead didn’t last for long because the others teams did reach the museum.
The couple was out of their Express Pass. The others still had theirs. Back at the stadium, some were still doing the roadblock but why wasn’t it Dylan doing it. Dylan was there with his grandfather, Doug. Doug was up in the air doing bungee jumping with his grandson still on the ground.
Doug is old. His grandson should at least being arguing with him about letting him do it. He shouldn’t have let Doug go up there once much less twice. Dylan deserved to lose just for that alone. There were two options at the maritime museum. Erin and Javi merely chose memorization. The others chose paddleboarding.
Some of them had completed the paddleboarding while the couple in the lead was struggling with memory. They didn’t even start out at the bottom back at the stadium. They were in fifth place so they won’t know if their decisions were worth it until they make it to the less leg of the trip.
The last leg was the VanDusen Botanical Garden. The last to make it there gets automatically eliminated. The first to arrive was Erin and Javi. Proving that their decisions paid off. There was a million dollars on the line and its not about who’s calling the shots. Dylan also redeemed himself.
They used the Express Pass so that neither he nor his grandpa had to do memorization on paddling. Smart move. They went straight to the Botanical Garden. They also hadn’t made a switch up towards the end like a dating couple.
Dalton and Daisha were initially going with memorization before they realized they weren’t good at it. They went to paddling. Switching up like that had slowed them down.
They were neck to neck with Nate and Zach. They both reached the last clue to their destination at the same time. It just that the couple got ahead of the brothers in reaching the Botanical Garden. They were getting there as one by one everyone else got to the place. They were all heading to their next destination while the race between the siblings and the couple ended with just one way. A pair was eliminated.
The pair ended up being Nate and Zach. They kept getting lost to the first destination. They also compounded the mistake by not taking a taxi there. They started out as last and ended as last.
Though thankfully didn’t get injured like another pair of siblings. Cody and Jamie had the most injuries after tonight. Jamie kept getting injured. She injured herself fly fishing. Her face got caught in the net. She then injured herself on the paddling. She got a bleeding scar on her nose. And when she asked her brother if it looked bad, he lied to her face by saying “no, you’re fine”.
And that’s siblings for you.
THE END!
