The Young and the Restless: 3 Huge Stories Just Wrapped Up Off-Screen, Problem New Head Writers Need to Fix

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that three important storylines just got an off-screen conclusion.

Many fans have been complaining about that on social media, so this is clearly an issue that the new co-head writing duo needs to address.

Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor are officially taking over for Josh Griffith this week, so they’ll be penning some exciting stories of their own and taking things down a very different road.

It’d be great to see O’Connor and Giddens focus on having more action actually happen on-screen.

That’s especially true since three huge stories just got wrapped up off camera.

For starters, Detective James Burrow (Matt Cohen) called Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) with news about Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns) being arrested after his hideout was located.

Plenty of viewers were hoping to see the Abbotts join forces for an ambush and an explosive confrontation with the wicked doc, but that never played out.

Plus, it was revealed that Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) was sent to a maximum-security psych ward, so she’ll be stuck there until her trial kicks off.

Jack feels certain that Patty can’t escape and will be convicted, so it seems like that story wrapped up off-screen, too.

A third off-camera conclusion came when Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), who was released from her mental health facility, got a reunion with her wife and child without fans ever witnessing it.

Instead of letting viewers see Mariah get welcomed back home with open arms, we had to hear her talk about reuniting with Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) and Aria Copeland-Porter (Maddie and Millie Ingle) instead.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the CBS soap has concluded big stories and skipped crucial plot points with off-screen developments.

Y&R could really benefit from a “show, don’t tell” motto moving forward, so let’s hope that’s something Dan O’Connor and Jamey Giddens concentrate on now that they’re in charge as the new co-head writers.
