The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recaps for Friday, July 17, note that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) is leaving Genoa City, as Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) reconcile.
The Y&R Friday show opens with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) at the GCAC bar talking with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic).
Lily noted that she hadn’t seen the twins so happy in ages. She adds that much of it has to do with Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) and how he’s rebuilt trust with her and them.
Nate is skeptical about trusting Cane and the cousins’ banter about this for a bit.
Nate also thinks that Cane offered Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) a job at Chancellor just to impress Lily.
Nate is worried about Cane running Chancellor, with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Holden involved.
What if something goes wrong? A lot of damage could be done in a short time!
Still, Lily isn’t concerned, trusts Cane, and if she doesn’t give him full autonomy of the Chancellor, this won’t work.
They then talk about Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) and his disapproval of Cane.
With that said, Lily is worried about Devon as he just seems so resentful, angry, and bitter lately.
She believes it has to do with Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) kidnapping Dominic Winters Chancellor (Ethan Ray Park), but Nate believes it’s a bit of that, but also all of Cane’s shady moves.
Regardless, Nate tells Lily that he’ll deal with Devon, and she can do her thing.
Cane swings by, and Nate leaves.
The Young and the Restless recaps for July 17 imply that Cane notes the cold shoulder from Nate and wonders if he or Devon will ever accept him.
Lily doesn’t think it matters.
They talk about it a bit, and Devon’s anger, but Lily assures Cane that nothing Devon says or does will ever change her mind about him.
Holden then approaches them. Lily excuses herself so they can talk about business.
At first, Holden says he’s not sure about joining Chancellor.
He ran into Devon and mentioned the Chancellor job offer, and the man didn’t seem pleased.
Holden doesn’t want to rock the boat with his new family. Cane understands but also states that the last thing Holden wants to do is turn down a job at Chancellor to keep Devon happy, only to disappoint Lily.
Besides, Cane things, they can build something they are all proud of at Chancellor. Holden agrees and accepts his job offer.
Meanwhile, at Crimson, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) catch up.
They talk about Nikki’s condition and how the woman is trying to remain optimistic, but also realistic about her vision.
Nick feels he’s more worried about his mom than she is.
Sharon reminds him that his top priority is staying away from drugs, and not worry about others.
The topic shifts to Matt, and Nick notes that he’s still on his mind all the time, and he can’t allow himself to believe that Matt’s changed.
While his dad, Victor, assures Matt is being watched, he still wishes he could get rid of Matt, once and for all.
Sharon wonders if he would turn to drugs to get rid of Matt; self-medicate to unalive his nemesis go away.
She also points out that Matt saved his life, something she witnessed firsthand.
Nick notes he’s not turning to drugs again and refuses to let anyone down.
The two decide to head to the Shadow Room to visit Noah Newman (Lucas Adams).
Speaking of, Y&R recaps for the July 17 show imply that Matt will walk into the empty bar and see Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun).
While Sienna is a bit standoffish, Matt admits he was a jerk, and she deserved better.
He sits at the bar, and Sienna pours him his favorite drink. She remembered, which impressed Matt!
He admits that sometimes he does want to lie, when it comes to the “Victor stuff”, but all in all, he just wants to prove he’s a better man.
Matt grabs her hand and tells her that he should’ve left her alone when they first met and that she deserves a good man.
Of course, Noah walks in, sees Matt’s got Sienna’s hand, and hits the roof. He reminds Matt that he’s supposed to stay away from Sienna.
Matt lashes back that maybe he’s not the problem, as Noah seems a tad controlling.
They start arguing as Matt tries to reason with Noah that he and Sienna were just talking.
Sharon and Nick arrive in the middle of the chaos. It becomes a four-on-one situation after that, and Matt is done.
He’s done trying to prove himself and can’t even be treated like a ‘human’ without all eyes on him.
Matt declares he’s leaving Genoa City.
Over at the Ranch, Nikki is doing her counting exercises, trying to walk up the stairs, when Victor sees her and insists she sit down.
He guides her to the couch. Nikki insists she doesn’t know what is going to happen when her bandages come off, and she needs to be prepared if her vision doesn’t come back.
Nikko’s hopeful but being realistic. Either way, she needs to learn to manage on her own.
Victor asks if she’s nervous and wraps her in a blanket. Nikki replies that she feels like she’s in limbo.
She’s still very mad at Victor, yet still feels the safest when she’s with him.
Nikki wonders if Victor’s hatred for Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) surpasses the love he has for her.
Nikki gets emotional as she notes that if she doesn’t have him, she won’t know how to manage. This is when Victor embraces her, as the two both cry.
The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that it was only a matter of time before Nictor reunited … but how long before they fight again and separate?
