The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that things are about to get messy for some exes and their new romantic partners.
One storyline in particular is putting the pieces in place for some escalating drama, so let’s discuss what’s ahead on the CBS soap.
During an interview with SOD, Y&R Head Writer Josh Griffith recently leaked three messy story developments.
Now that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) knows Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) is pregnant with Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) baby, big changes are on the way.
1) Adam gets protective of Sally’s unborn child
For starters, Josh Griffith talked about the news of Sally and Billy’s baby affecting Adam “on a profound level.”
Sally is set to marry Adam’s enemy and have a child with him after losing the one she shared with Adam, so all this will be “emotionally earth-shattering.”
As a result, Adam is going to spin out a bit and become increasingly protective of Sally’s impending bundle of joy.
Griffith suggested that Adam feels like he couldn’t protect his own baby with Sally, so he’ll feel the need to protect this one.
2) Chelsea and Adam’s relationship under strain
Although Griffith was clear about Adam not pining for Sally romantically, he still hinted about the situation putting a strain on his relationship with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan).
Griffith assured fans that Adam is deeply in love with Chelsea, but he’ll still be drawn to Sally through his need to protect her from Billy heartbreak and another baby tragedy.
“Adam tries to downplay this and fight it, but how long can that last? And at what point does it start to create a rift between Chelsea and Adam?” Griffith teased.
3) Billy and Adam’s feud spirals out of control
In the midst of all this, Adam and Billy’s conflict is only going to intensify.
As you might expect, Chelsea and Sally are going to notice the growing hostility as it threatens to boil over and explode.
Josh Griffith hinted that both Sally and Chelsea will find themselves asking, “‘When is this gonna end? When can you guys stop? Because the more you hate each other, the more it affects us.’”
Could Adam’s feud with Billy sabotage his own desire to protect Sally’s baby?
Could Adam actually make things worse instead of better as this storyline moves along?
Time will tell, but The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest Adam will cause trouble and become a bigger part of Sally and Billy’s story.
