The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers hint that Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) return could tie in with Dr. Laurence Markham’s (Jere Burns) takedown.
Ashley may help Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) unravel a shocking mystery – one that could involve Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) and a disturbing secret.
When Dr. Markham first popped up in Genoa City to meet with Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk), Traci ran into him almost immediately and was totally creeped out.
It felt like a clue that maybe Traci is better acquainted with Dr. Markham than she knows.
Of course, we also can’t ignore Dr. Markham’s bookshelf full of Alan Laurent’s (Christopher Cousins) books or his revelation that he’s a Gemini.
Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) commented on Dr. Markham’s zodiac sign being all about the twins, but Dr. Markham quipped that he liked to think he was one of a kind.
That seemed like another hint that perhaps Dr. Markham is actually a twin – and if he is, he could easily be Martin in disguise.
Whether Martin had plastic surgery or is perhaps wearing a realistic mask, there are soapy ways of concealing his real identity.
Diane also thought back to Martin’s downfall at one point and predicted that Dr. Markham would go down next.
There have been way too many Martin mentions on Y&R lately, so we can’t overlook those.
Even Dr. Laurence Markham’s name seems like a nod to Martin Laurent, so there are good reasons to think they’re the same person.
CDL previously speculated on this theory, but it’s a good time to revisit it now that Ashley is coming back.
Both Ashley and Traci were tangled up in all the twin drama with Alan and Martin, so it makes sense for them to be part of the story that comes next.
Traci and Ashley may team up to uncover more about Dr. Markham, which could somehow lead to them realizing he’s actually Martin.
Perhaps Martin wound up at Patty Williams’ (Stacy Haiduk) mental health facility instead of prison and eventually found a way to take over the life of a doctor there.
That would explain why Dr. Markham is so respected and has impeccable credentials despite being the kind of quack who’d claim Patty was rehabilitated.
Whatever the case, Ashley will come home to an Abbott family mess and may help Traci figure out the truth behind Dr. Markham’s identity.
