Despite the obvious attraction between them, Holden’s Los Angeles secrets were previously an issue for Claire.
Now Claire’s finally decided not to let those secrets bother her, but a new source of conflict may be on the horizon.
Holden needed a job, so he accepted one in the July 9 episode when Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) offered to hire him at Chancellor.
Once Holden shared what he thought was good news with Claire, she warned that working for Cane was a mistake.
Claire doesn’t trust Cane due to all the AI drama and his feud with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), but Holden insisted Victor wasn’t squeaky clean in all that.
Victor got his hands on the AI program and used it to decimate Cane’s company, so Holden defended Cane a bit.
Besides, Lily is the one who owns Chancellor, so Holden is really working for his newly discovered sister.
It seems rather selfish for Claire to trample over all over Holden’s excitement, particularly when he could really use this full-time position and the money it’ll bring him.
Claire ultimately decided she’d try to support Holden, but how long will that plan really last?
This feels like the kind of thing that could turn into a much bigger deal as the storyline moves along.
That’s especially true since Holden may land at the center of another round of hostility between Cane and Victor.
Holden is aware of Matt Clark’s (Roger Howarth) history as “Mitch Bacall” and could play a key role in unraveling the rest of the story for Cane.
Although Cane knows about Matt playing spy games for Victor, he may know more about Matt thanks to Holden soon.
Holden might be tasked with helping Cane go up against Victor and whatever else he might have planned, so this could lead to his romance with Claire crumbling.
