The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers suggest that the CBS soap could be setting up a scenario where Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns) ambushes Diane Abbott (Susan Walters) in a terrifying encounter.
During the Tuesday, July 14 episode, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) paid Diane a visit at the Abbott mansion.
He updated her on Patty Williams’ (Stacy Haiduk) most recent court date and passed on the good news that she was locked in custody for good and was not granted bail.
With that said, Diane still worried about Patty being a threat. After all, she was crafty enough to fool and manipulate authorities into releasing her into a minimum-security mental health facility.
Patty eventually got Markham to release her and give her a good bill of mental health.
This is when the conversation turned to Markham’s whereabouts. Michael wasn’t overly concerned that the doctor was out on the run and hadn’t been located by police.
Still, Diane relayed her horrific experience of being held captive by the psychotherapist in his home.
Diane was quick to tell Michael just how “dark and creepy” Markham was.
She even told him that Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) picked up on a scariness in the doctor’s eyes that she couldn’t shake.
Diane was worried that wherever Markham was, he would return to gain revenge on what she had done to him and her escape.
Michael fluffed off Diane’s concerns and reminded her that the Abbott security team was on high alert.
Still, fans know the Abbott security team isn’t something to rely on, as they have failed the family on countless occasions in the past.
All arrows are pointing to the idea that Markham could be – or is somehow linked to – vile villain Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins), who tormented Traci and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) by pretending to be his brother, Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins).
In addition, Martin also kidnapped and held Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) hostage, so there’s that, too.
No one knows where Markham is right now, and there doesn’t seem to be any leads on where he could be. Is he looming in the shadows to strike when Diane least expects it?
If Markham is Martin, then he’ll have an insider’s knowledge of how to enter the Abbott mansion, as the doctor spent a lot of time in the home.
Even if Markham is not Martin, he’s visited the mansion before and probably took notes.
Regardless, after Tuesday’s show, it’s clear that Markham is a danger and a threat.
He is likely currently waiting for the perfect opportunity to get back at Diane for what she did to him.
After all, she slyly flirted with the man to seduce him and gain his trust, only to poison him with sleeping pills for a grand escape.
Not to mention her taunting remarks she dished to the man as he dozed off.
Markham is likely as unhinged as Patty, so he won’t take what Diane did and said lightly.
The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that, as Patty is locked away, Diane may feel as if the worst is over; however, a new, fresh nightmare may be on the horizon.
