The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that one name is coming up on the CBS soap again, so it could pave the way for a recast and a big comeback. Will fans ultimately see Reed Hellstrom return to Genoa City in some form?
The role was last played by Tristan Lake Leabu, who made his final appearance back in 2020.
Since then, there’s been talk of Reed visits off-screen, but he’s been steering clear of GC for years now.
However, Reed came up in the July 2 episode as Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) reflected on her pregnancy and her son being named after Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), whose maiden name was Reed.
That left some viewers wondering if Reed might be headed back to Genoa city at some point.
We’d say there would be good reasons to put Reed Hellstrom back in the action.
For starters, Reed has never interacted with his sister, Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), on-screen since Victoria found out she was alive.
Plus, Nikki has been dealing with some serious medical drama, so it’d be nice if her grandson could come home to visit her.
Perhaps Reed could even stick around for a love story, a career path and whatever else Y&R might have in store for him.
With a new head writer on the horizon, there will be opportunities for exciting cast additions and storylines.
Since Reed has been away for so long, the show might want to start fresh with another actor and bring a recast into the picture.
Since Victoria and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) have a messy attraction ahead of them, that could be another reason for Reed to return.
We could certainly imagine Reed having a negative reaction to Victoria getting involved with Claire’s former boyfriend.
Reed Hellstrom isn’t the only off-screen Newman family member who’s been mentioned lately.
Summer Newman’s (last played by Allison Lanier) name consistently comes up as well, so fans might see her make a comeback of her own somewhere down the line.
There could be multiple recast shockers depending on which characters are deemed important enough to return following the head writer change.
