In tonight’s Tracker episode, a stuntman walked off set in the middle of filming. He was feeling his age. He was feeling the pain. He said he couldn’t do this anymore and that was the last anyone saw of him. His girlfriend began to worry when she didn’t hear from him. She went to the police. They didn’t help.
She then posted a twelve grand reward to see if anyone could be of help. Randy found this case and he gave it to Colter. Randy was a huge fan of Hale “Rip” Ripley. Rip was the first black man to make it big as a stuntman. He even lived in Hollywood for a bit before he left to go live in Detroit.
Rip was filming a movie there. He wasn’t a big leading guy. It made no sense why he would just walk off like that. Colter asked Laura the girlfriend about it because he knew he had to start at the set. Laura said that Rip was in the program. He got addicted to prescription pills because of the risks he took in his job.
He’s in recovery now. Laura hired someone so fast because she was worried that maybe the last stunt pushed him over the edge. It was a rough stunt. It was clear in the way he landed on the mat that Rip was feeling the pain.
Unfortunately, Rip’s response to it was negatively received. Rip told the people on set that he would talk to the producers about cutting out that stunt. He was genuinely worried about getting injured and he thought they should know even if it wasn’t some big blockbuster set. Rip went to the producer’s hotel.
Colter tracked his movements from the set to there and he found footage of Rip meeting with one producer. His name is Cranston. He was staying in a nice hotel while everything on set was lackluster because the film was a money laundering scheme.
Those people were all working for organized crime.
They didn’t like it when someone like Rip tried to stand up to them. Cranston had security footage. Colter found it when he broke into the hotel room. It showed Cranston’s guys dragging off Rip. Colter sent the footage to Randy. Randy identified one of the men and they tracked his cell phone. It was a warehouse.
Colter went there. He found everyone but Rip beaten and tied up. Rip managed to get the drop on them and the only thing he wanted to know was where his old car was. He had sold it to Cranston years ago when he bottomed out.
Rip loved that car. He fixed it up himself. It was now worth a lot of money because he fixed it up. Rip could want it to sell only Colter thought that was a lot of trouble for a guy like Rip. He asked Laura about his financial situation. She said that Rip was living paycheck to paycheck. He didn’t tell her he had money trouble.
Then again he wouldn’t have. He was the strong silent type. He would try to fix things on his own no matter what. Laura didn’t know what he was struggling with. Colter did his best to find out.
Colter soon learned that Rip sold his car to some street racers. They had too much money and too little sense. Colter also learned that Rip was doing all of this for his son, Dalton.
Dalton was a stuntman like his dad. He wasn’t any good at it. He was up to his neck in debt. He took out too many bad loans. He was running with a crew that all have rap sheets so Dalton got in over his head. His dad was doing his best to bail him out. It should’ve already been over by time Colter found the street race. And somehow the problem got bigger.
Dalton’s crew needed a getaway driver. It was supposed to be Dalton. Rip didn’t want it to be and the money wasn’t enough. Rip agreed to take over for his son. It’s not like Dalton was a great driver anyway. He constantly lost in the street races. Colter enlisted Laura’s help. They went looking for this crew.
They were too late to stop them. They found one guy that Colter choked out. They also found a badly injured Dalton. Dalton got in over his head. He didn’t want his dad to go to prison because of something he did.
Dalton asked to come along. He wanted to help his dad. It turns out he got his dad involved in an armored truck theft. He told them where it was going down.
They interrupted the theft. Rip was taken hostage by the ringleader. Colter killed a man to protect him and now they have to explain everything to the cops.
Colter saved the day and he got paid.
Reenie on the other hand was forced to relive her trauma for what seemed like Maxine’s amusement. That probably didn’t help with her messy mental state either.
THE END!
