In tonight’s Watson episode, Watson was dealing with his diagnosis. He stepped back from the clinic. He left Mary to run it. She was also dealing with his fellows and Ingrid was being particularly difficult. She’s always difficult, but Watson as well as his team knew how to handle her.
Mary doesn’t. Ingrid knew that Watson had a tumor and she knew its location, She said the chances weren’t high for him. Nor was she going to fall for a thing univariable as hope. She needed concrete data that said he was going to survive. Ingrid being herself actually came in handy later on.
Watson was interviewing doctors. He was looking for the best person to treat him when he noticed he was being followed. He had Detective Lestrande with him.
She told him that those men weren’t an illusion. They were being watched. The men along with Miguel Alvardo worked for Rodrigo Freitas. Freitas was a dictator of a South American country. His people haven’t had elections in years. He was considered a monster. He was a monster that was now calling in a favor with the American government.
Freitas had the State Department pressure Watson into working for him. Watson was still out on leave. He needed someone to babysit him and run the clinic. It couldn’t be Mary.
He therefore named Ingrid as his fill-in. She was running point and it scared everyone. It even scared Freitas. His sociopathic self met another one of his kind in Ingrid. She ordered a whole bunch of tests. She wanted to get to the bottom of what was making him sick. Freitas didn’t actually come to the United States for that. He came for Watson.
Freitas wanted the genius Watson’s opinion on choosing his successor. He didn’t think they could save his life. He’s seen some of the best doctors all over the world. No one could find what was wrong with him.
He didn’t have much hope either. He couldn’t leave his country to face a crisis so he wanted help in naming a successor. It doesn’t matter if he recovers. He would still look weak and he couldn’t afford to remain in his position while looking weak. He gave Watson a bunch of files to look through. And Ingrid handled everything else.
The team found out that someone was drugging Freitas using his hand moisturizer.
Freitas was very self-conscious about his dry skin. He used moisturizer by the bucket load. He thought rough hands were the signs of being low-class and that meant someone knew about his habit. Like his inner circle. The same people he’s picking to nominate his successor from.
Once they found out he had been poisoned in an attempted coup, they then had a new dilemma. They couldn’t tell Freitas the truth. He would kill everyone in his inner circle. This included his doctors if it meant he’d catch the one guy trying to kill him.
They didn’t want him killing people. Yet, they also knew his inner circle was full of people just like him. Its why Watson couldn’t name a successor.
They were all as bad as each other. It was Ingrid who came up with the idea to keep Freitas’s doctor away from him and withhold the truth. It would save more lives that way. It wasn’t long before Freitas began feeling better away from the poison. He was fighting shape. He even considered staying on if he could live longer. Perhaps twenty years or more.
Watson couldn’t let that happen. He had to find out who poisoned him. It became simple. He asked Freitas who recommended he come to the Holmes Clinic. It wasn’t his doctor.
His doctor got offended that he needed a second opinion. It had been his trusted Assistant, Miguel Alvardo. Alvardo allowed him to be poisoned. He convinced him to go to Watson for treatment. He had hoped that the illness would make Freitas a better man and all it did was make him worse. He leaned into his worse impulses once he felt he had nothing to lose.
Now, Alvardo is scared. He knows what will happen to him if Freitas finds out. Watson agreed to set him up with the State Department. Alvardo was talking to them about Freitas’s regime when Freitas figured out Alvardo was the reason he was getting sick. He was getting much better without him there.
It just won’t be enough to save him. Freitas lung cancer. It’s from smoking all those cigars. He was at end stage so he needed stay in a clinic of the best cancer doctors and that would leave his country without a landlord. Hopefully, someone better than Freitas will rise up to the challenge.
Freitas also noticed that Ingrid was a sociopath. He told her to embrace it and she needed to do it fast because Sasha wanted to travel to China to meet her birth mother. Ingrid couldn’t let that happened. Not now when she knows Sasha’s mother wasn’t contacting Sasha. It was Beck.
He’s killed two people already and he wanted Sasha to be the third. Ingrid went over to his place. She lured into sleep using lots of sex and she tried to get his laptop. He figured out what she was doing. He was going to kill her to keep her quiet and so Ingrid held her own. She sprayed him with bear mace, kicked him in the nuts, got the knife away from him, and then let him choke.
She waited until he was really choking before she stabbed him to death. Freitas told her to embrace who she was and who she was is Sasha’s friend. She wasn’t going to let Beck hurt Sasha.
Still, she might get in trouble if they brought the old lawsuit or why she was his apartment. And why she spat on his body once he was dead.
THE END!
