Adam Shankman, famous for directing Hairspray, Rock of Ages, and the Step Up movies, has just checked into rehab. Several prominent sources confirm the news with official statements released by Adam’s reps. In a statement made to Us Weekly, the 49-year-old choreographer/director’s team says, “Adam Shankman is currently seeking treatment in a rehabilitation center. His friends and family support him and wish him well on his journey to recovery.”
This past Sunday, Adam was seen at a Trevor LIVE event in L.A. and appeared to be in good spirits. In fact, Adam posted a photo he took with Adam Lambert, Darren Criss, and Jane Lynch, who also attended the event.
We wish him all the best as he ventures into rehab. Hopefully he’ll find the assistance he needs to get a healthy start. None of the articles released state the specific reasons behind his decision to seek rehabilitation, but I think many are just assuming it has something to do with substance abuse — or an addiction falling somewhere along those lines.
