The Young and the Restless Tuesday, May 19 Recap: Matt Horrified Over Phyllis’ Confession

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Tuesday, May 19, reveals that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) has some horror headed his way thanks to Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) harsh truth.

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will also make a vow to Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), so here’s what viewers can look forward to.

At Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) psychiatric facility, Devon Winters (Bryton James) will deliver a get-well-soon card from Dominic Winters (Ethan Ray Clark) and admit he’s really struggling to understand why Mariah kidnapped his son.

Mariah will explain that she lost touch with reality and let visions of Ian Ward (Ray Wise) be her guide, but part of her knew she was doing the wrong thing.

Devon will admit he still believes Mariah belongs in prison, so she’ll point out that initially fought the plea deal since she felt the same way.

However, Mariah will be concentrating on getting better now since that’s the best way for everyone to move forward.

Although Mariah will sincerely apologize and understand Devon’s anger, he’ll remain agitated and will ultimately blame himself for not protecting Dominic.

Mariah will try to steer Devon away from that type of thinking.

In the end, Devon will suggest that he’ll try to forgive Mariah and accept her apology, but that’s the best he’ll be able to do.

Mariah will put the focus on Devon forgiving himself instead.

At Crimson Lights, Sharon will point out that Phyllis has been trying to control everything since Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) locked them up in that clinic.

Phyllis won’t think that’s a bad thing and won’t divulge any information on where she’s keeping Matt.

At the GCAC, Nick will be adamant about Christine Blair Romalotti (Lauralee Bell) dropping the charges against Phyllis and focusing on Matt’s takedown.

Christine won’t like how Phyllis is using the situation to her advantage and won’t be willing to consider doing anything until it’s proven that Matt can be delivered.

After Nick promises to get Christine what she needs, he’ll take off while Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) quizzes her.

Daniel will be concerned over not hearing from Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) since his flight should’ve landed by now.

Christine won’t think it’s a big deal since Danny gets easily distracted by his rockstar life, so Daniel will admit he’s on edge.

There’ll be some talk about Phyllis and whether Christine would drop the charges if she gave Newman back, but Christine won’t think Phyllis is going to do that.

Once Phyllis pops up, she’ll clash with Christine by the door.

Daniel will suggest maybe a plea deal could serve as a compromise for them both, but Phyllis will stand her ground.

After Phyllis heads up to Matt’s suite, she’ll fume when she finds Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) there.

Phyllis will be even angrier when she realizes Matt took off to meet Patty in public after calling her on the burner phone Phyllis gave him.

Matt will confront Phyllis over lying to him since he found out from Patty that she was married to a Newman.

Phyllis will argue that she didn’t want Matt to mistrust her and will offer to tell him everything she’s learned about his past if Patty leaves.

Patty will suggest getting a drink with Matt later and will kiss him on the cheek on her way out.

When Phyllis is alone with Matt, she’ll admit he tried to kill various members of the Newman family more than once.

Matt will also learn he’s guilty of assault and rape, but he’ll be in denial when he hears such horrible things about himself.

It’ll leave Matt insisting that can’t be true before deciding he doesn’t want his memories back and should just get out of town.

Phyllis will insist she can’t let Matt do that, so he’ll note that she’s stopped him more than once and wonder what she’s not telling him.

Back at the coffeehouse on Tuesday’s Y&R episode, Nick will secretly take more fentanyl before turning his attention to Sharon and Noah Newman (Lucas Adams).

Noah and Sharon will find out about the deal Nick’s making without Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) knowledge, but he’ll contend that dealing with Matt is more important than Newman Enterprises.

Sharon will seem skeptical about Nick’s new willingness to let the authorities handle Matt, but he’ll insist Christine knows what’s at stake.

At Sharon’s urging, Nick will promise that he won’t take matters into his own hands once he has access to Matt.
