Billy Bob Thornton‘s daughter has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing a baby. Amanda Brumfield is the 32-year-old daughter of actor Billy Bob and his first wife Melissa Parish. She was found guilty of aggravated manslaughter earlier this year and today was sentenced for the offence.
In May, a court convicted Brumfield over the 2008 death of her best friend’s 12-month-old daughter Olivia Madison Garcia, who she had claimed hit her head in a fall as she climbed out of her playpen.
However, prosecutors had argued it was “impossible” for the three-and-a-half inch skull fracture Grace suffered could have came from a fall at that height, though her lawyers claimed it could have aggravated an old injury.
A source close to Brumfield told RadarOnline.com that she plans to appeal the sentence. Apparentl Brumfield is relatively fortunate since she was found not guilty of first degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges. Billy Bob has been estranged from Brumfield for some time.
His reaction to his daughter’s crime made through his rep shows that he does not care about his daughter: “Anytime a baby’s life is lost is an unimaginable tragedy, and my heart goes out to the baby’s family and loved ones,” the actor said in a statement.
Brumfield’s thoughts on her dad were recorded 10 years ago by inside edition: “I mean, I have nothing against him. I love him. He’s my father. I just want him to be around. I don’t want to cry, but it’s not fair to watch him on TV every day, and I can’t even get a call.”
