Jon Voight left his wife, Marcheline Bertrand back in 1977 and it was a move that will never truly be forgiven by Angelina Jolie. She was just 2-years old when she and her older brother were left in the capable hands of Marcheline while Jon cheated with a costar in a production of Hamlet at the University of California. This is all really old news but what is new is the fact that Marcheline detailed the time of her devastating split in a series of letters sent to her best friend in Chicago.
According to the July 22nd print edition of Globe Magazine, Marie Miles, Marcheline’s god daughter decided to release the letters and pictures plus give an interview. Angie is now aware of her mother’s heartbreak in her own words as she grieved her marriage to Jon. Angie has made it clear that her father’s infidelity has played a huge part in her keeping him at arms length throughout her adult life. He has met her six children but she is not exactly encouraging them to have a real relationship with her estranged father. It’s ironic that Jon plays a scoundrel-like cheating dad on the new hit show Ray Donovan.
Angie was extremely close to her mother right up to her death in 2007 and I’m sure reading her words years after she has passed only fueled the simmering anger that she still felt towards Jon. Do you think that Brad Pitt tried to help repair things between Angie and Jon, at least for the sake of the grand kids? Even if it worked temporarily I’m sure all bets were off once Angie actually read her mother’s pain in her own words.
