Justice Department Should Back Off Google

Google is doing the great work of getting the English language literary canon as well as most other popular and well-regarded or important books on line.   The US Justice Department is hassling them because Google requires that an author request not to be included rather than Google themselves getting each author’s permission.   Since the authors will be paid for the access granted to their works and the internet is certainly moving to replace or least seriously diminish the importance of the paper publishing industry it only makes sense for Google to take on such a massive job.   Of course there will be cranks and troglodytes who find absurd reasons to protest any progressive action but the US Justice Department should not be in that group.   Leave it to lawyers, the scum of the professional world, to attempt to hamper an enterprise with so obvious a universal benefit.
