Hilary Swank Fires Her Manager Amid Human Rights Controversy

Hilary Swank made an ass of herself and walked into a firestorm of bad publicity by appearing at a concert for Chechnyan president Ramzan Kadyrov – and now she has fired manager Jason Weinberg – and others on her team are set to get the chop as well.

As Celeb Dirty Laundry reported last week:  On October 5, Swank attended the Chechen President’s lavish 35th birthday party, along with actor Jean-Claude Van Damme, singer Seal and British violinist Vanessa-Mae. For this engagement, each of these performers reportedly received hundreds of thousands of dollars in appearance fees. On videos posted to YouTube, Swank can be seen saying to Kadyrov, ”Happy birthday, Mr President.”

Kadyrov is a monster – and his egregious human rights record makes Swank’s attendance at his birthday party/concert unforgivable. Chechnya is known to be one of the world’s most violently repressive places so what are we to infer about Swank’s attendance?

Either she just doesn’t care about people, and is happy to support a torturing tyrant as long as she gets a good payday – or she is just too darn ignorant to know anything other the lines she memorizes for her films. In either case she is worthy of our contempt. Firing her manager makes her look even guiltier and stupider.

Hilary Swank got paid big bucks to buddy up to a sick monster with numerous entries on his Wikipedia page itemizing his human rights abuses – for example: Ramzan Kadyrov is branded a “war criminal”, alleging that up to 75 percent of recent incidents of murder, torture, rape and kidnapping in Chechnya have been committed by Ramzan’s paramilitary forces.

I won’t pay to go to another movie that stars Hilary Swank.
