2012 Golden Globe Awards Nominees For 'Best Original Song' -- Listen To Them Here (Videos)

As many of you know, the 2012 Golden Globe Awards will be here in just a few hours. Countless awards will be handed out over the course of the evening, and each category has loads of talent. For some of them, it seems almost impossible to choose a winner. For a complete list of nominees and to get prepared for the glamorous evening ahead, check out our earlier post by clicking here.

One of my favorite categories — in any awards show — is the ‘Best Original Song’ category. Many people take for granted the power music can have on a film’s success; but the reality is: without music — whether they be songs promoting the film or original scores — the moving pictures we see wouldn’t be nearly as powerful.

While you might not have had a chance to catch all the movies (and the actors’ performances) nominated tonight, you do have time to preview the songs up for awards this evening. There are five original songs, so make sure to give them a quick listen and tell us which one you think is going to take home that shiny-sparkly-glitzy-golden globe. 1. “Hello Hello” — “Gnomeo & Juliet,” music by Elton John (ft. Lady Gaga), lyrics by Bernie Taupin

2. “The Keeper”— “Machine Gun Preacher,” music and lyrics by Chris Cornell

3. “Lay Your Head Down” — “Albert Nobbs,” music by Brian Byrne, lyrics by Glenn Close (performed by Sinnead O’Connor)

4. “The Living Proof” — “The Help”; music by Mary J. Blige, Thomas Newman, Harvey Mason Jr.; lyrics by Mary J. Blige, Harvey Mason Jr., Damon Thomas (performed by Mary J. Blige)

5. “Masterpiece” — W.E., music and lyrics by Madonna, Julie Frost, Jimmy Harry

Aren’t they all just fantastic? It’s such a hard pick! But, if I had to choose, I would narrow it down to “The Living Proof” and “Lay Your Head Down.” While I think any of them could (and deserve to) win, I have a feeling “The Living Proof” is going to end up taking home the golden prize.
