Larry Hagman is dead at 81. The great actor who played JR Ewing in the original Dallas TV series and the reboot passed away in a Dallas hospital. Larry’s closest friends Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy were with him when he passed.
Linda’s agent had these words to say: Linda was with him, they had been friends for 35 years and they had worked together for many years so obviously it was devastating. She called and told me. She sounded very sad.”
Larry was an alcoholic who required a liver transplant in August of 1995 and subsequently battled cancer. He remained an optimist and fought to regain his health choosing a vegan diet.
Larry was currently filming the second season of the Dallas reboot and was still as popular as ever.
Linda remarked after Larry died: “Larry Hagman was my best friend for 35 years.”
“He was the Pied Piper of life and brought joy to everyone who knew him. He was creative, generous, funny, loving and talented. I’ll miss him enormously.”
Larry was born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1931 and married Maj Axelsson in 1954 and had two children, Heidi Kristina and Preston. His mother was Marry Martin a great star in her own right.
Larry was a classic – from I Dream of Genie to Dallas he left his mark on Television and America’s hearts.
