The hottest news around Celeb Couples Land right now is the engagement between singer/actress Miley Cyrus and Hunger Games badass Liam Hemsworth. As we reported earlier, Liam proposed to Miley on May 31 with a 3.5 diamond ring from jeweler Neil Lane. Miley said she’s looking forward to a lifetime full of happiness with Liam, and with such a brilliant, hefty rock to grace her finger — a diamond only a dude’s Hunger Games salary can provide — it’s looking like Miley has a lot to to be smiley about!
Neil Lane, who says Hemsworth wanted “something unusual,” tells the People mag:
“It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form. At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.”
The ring definitely is unusual, and sort of odd looking (at least when compared to some of the other celeb rings we’ve seen recently), but I think it fits well with her quirky nature and really does convey a regality. And with all this royal talk around us, of Pippas and Kate Middletons and Princes, everyone seems to be desiring a little bit of royalty in their lives.
We’re not sure how long this marriage will last, or even if it’s a good idea, but we are hopeful for the couple. Miley is only 19 years old and Liam Hemsworth isn’t much older, at only 22 years. Plus, Liam might run into trouble . . . because we all know his heart belongs to another: Katniss Everdeen AKA Jennifer Lawrence. Duh!
