Producer William Orbit Blames Chris Brown For Madonna's Failing 'MDNA' Album

Madonna, The Queen of Pop, hasn’t been basking in the glory of a fabulous new album, despite a heavy push by the record label.  Legendary producer William Orbit claims that some of MDNA’s best songs actually ended up being handed to Chris Brown.  During a colorful debate with fans, on Orbit’s Facebook page he explained why the album has basically flopped.

Orbit discusses the potential reasons why the new album has failed:

We were very pushed for time due to . . . various pressing commitments that took up the artist’s limited time such as perfume ranges and teen fashion contests and other such endeavors. Which are beyond my own limited understanding of pop star agendas. We had songs lined up that were breathtaking, you’ll hear some of them on Chris Brown’s new album, Kreayshawn’s (INCREDIBLE) new album and my own, recently completed Strange Cargo album.  Most of them, I believe, destined to become classics (let me know in a couple of months whether you concur with that).  All of us fully committed to putting ourselves through extraordinary efforts to make MDNA the greatest album of the year, but alas the time wasn’t there.

It more than flopped — as it saw an 88% crash in sales between the first two weeks of release!  Some criticized the lack of promotion and poor singles choices on the label’s part and Orbit was the producer of Madonna’s 1998 smash Ray of Light so he likely knows what he’s talking about in this situation.

Ironically, Orbit later apologized via tweet for his fueling the Facebook fire.

“The MDNA comments. I should not have said them publicly. I see that and I regret that I said online. Not fair to M.”

He also has praised Madonna’s efforts herself saying,

“The sessions for the six songs I did were hugely enjoyable for all of us. [Madonna] was on form and better than ever with her singing and writing and musicality, and was having a great time.”
