Live Recap Begins:
Tonight should be pretty interesting on The X Factor. We’re down to the top six and each contestant will sing twice. Up first they will all perform an acoustic song and then everyone gets to perform a song chosen by the viewers. Up first is CeCe Frey who needed to get the boot weeks ago. Her mentor is Demi Lovato and she’s the last young adult that Demi has to mentor here. CeCe is about to perform Lady GaGa’s Edge of Glory and admits that in previous weeks’ she has aimed to MASK her vocals. If you’re hiding your vocals you have no place in this competition. LA thought this performance was really good. Britney Spears found a set and disagreed with LA, she thinks it wasn’t great and right now it needs to be. Simon says she’s not worth a 5 million contract!
Emblem 3 is up next to strip things down and they are doing a rendition of Bruno Mars’ Just the Way You Are. Their harmonies are actually pretty decent but when they sing alone it gets a bit scary. LA thinks it’s pretty good and Britney believes it’s their best performance. Demi is still not a fan. She feels like they are a downgraded version of the Jonas Brothers 5 years ago! She’s SO right!
Carly Rose Sonenclar is going to perform Justin Bieber’s As long As You love Me and this is going to be a definite risk. She’s going to have to make this song completely her own or it’s not going to work. And, she completely owned it. Stripped down Bieber songs might be better than the over produced real deal. LA loved that this song showed restraint. Demi says Carly sang it better than Justin does it. Simon says she is an emerging star.
Simon’s second group still in the competition and Fifth Harmony is taking on Adele’s Set Fire to the Rain and I think they have demolished it completely. LA points out the obvious, there was no harmony they all sang separately. Britney can’t figure out what makes them stand out and Demi thinks they don’t click as a group.
Diamond White is the second 13 year old girl to perform tonight and she’s attempting a huge song, It’s A Man’s World by James Brown. Finally, Diamon delivers a super strong performance again! It has been weeks since that last happened! LA tells her she brought attitude and show biz. Demi called it risky but thinks she pulled it off. Simon thought it was a bit screechy and he wishes she chose a different song.
Tate Stevens is wrapping up the acoustic portion of the show and he’s probably going to bring the house down with Bon Jovi’s Living On A Prayer. Britney thinks he’ll be a huge country star. Demi also believes that she’ll be buying his album some day but he missed the high note. Simon wants him to choose his own material. The audience seems to completely disagree with the judges.
The second half of the show the contestants are placed in the hands of the fans. They choose the music, the styling and everything else. The pressure is on because no one wants to let the fans down. CeCe Frey is up first singing Part of Me by Katy Perry and oh my hell. LA says he feels like a windshield wiper, one minute he likes her the next not so much. Britney thought she was entertaining and Simon liked her defiance and continues to call her a try er. This chick needs to go, now. Pack up all the leopard print and sparkles and just go. The judges were entertained because it was hilarious that this chick thought she could sing.
Emblem 3 are the next ones to be left in the viewers’ hands. Let’s hope they do better than Cece did! They are performing Forever One and it was a bit choppy but LA loved it and Britney thought it was a super star performance. Demi thinks it was better than their first performance but they need to work the stage better.
Carly Rose Sonenclar would have to be given a Beyonce song right? I mean it’s pretty much the only diva that she hasn’t had to take on yet, so here we go with If I Was a Boy. I hate this song usually, but of course Carly makes it sound great. LA says he knows she’ll never let him down. Demi thought it was a phenomenal vocal but a bit predictable. Simon says she has had a phenomenal night.
Fifth Harmony is up next and America wants them to sing Demi Lovato’s Give Your Heart a Break. They actually sound better than usual but I think they’re still pretty boring. They actually did harmonize for a change and LA thinks it was their best performance. Britney thinks it was good and Demi thinks it was better than the original.
Diamond White gets to perform Rihanna’s current hit, Diamonds and she sounds better than the original. She may have been in the bottom two last week but she’s not going home this week, that’s for sure! LA didn’t love it but Demi thinks she really did it justice. Simon thought the second half of the song was better than the first half and she had a good night.
Tate Stevens will close the show and I fully expect him to give a performance worthy of this spot. He’s singing If Tomorrow Never Comes and I’m the first to tell you I’m not a country fan, but I love this guy. He could almost make me a fan. Almost. Britney thinks he was brilliant and Demi thinks his future is really bright. Simon thinks Tate reminds him of Garth Brooks and he is glad that he has come this far in the competition.
Which two will be leaving tomorrow night? Tune in to find out and check out our Review and Poll Thursday morning!
