Hugh Jackman’s wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, doesn’t appreciate people calling her husband gay, the actor has revealed in the newest issue of The Hollywood Reporter. The 44-year old, who is nominated for an Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards, says Deborra tends to search up her hubby every now and then, where she usually finds ridiculous stories that Jackman is a homosexual.
We don’t understand why Deb would even be worried whether or not her husband cheats on her – Hugh seems like a good fella and after having watched his 60 Minutes interview, we realized he’s very loyal to being a family man and setting a good example for his children. Awww! Just like his recent CBS interview, Hugh goes on to talk about his private life, such as his mother walking out on the family when he was just a little boy, turning down the once-in-a-lifetime offer to star as James Bond and his bizarre diets for his movie roles.
Though he says he’s not religious, Jackman admits to meditating twice a day to keep himself relaxed and calm: “It is about quieting that part of the brain and just seeing and being,” before the topic changed as to how he felt when his mother left him: “Dad went off to England to bring her back, but by this point she was married to someone else, with a kid,” he says. “It was really complicated. So when Dad arrived back — not three weeks later, as planned, but five days later — I just knew. I was old enough to go, ‘This is not happening.’ ”
On his wife, Deborra, getting annoyed by reports claiming her husband is gay, he adds: “Just recently, it bugs her,” stating the the Internet as his wife constantly looking up to what her actor husband has been up to. “She goes: ‘It’s big. It’s everywhere!’” The comments on Jackman’s sexuality can not be questioned when it comes to X-Men producer Lauren Shuler, who says he is 100% straight: “I have seen him with Deborra since the beginning of their trip to Hollywood, and I’ve been on five movie sets with him and have never seen him stray, have never seen him eye anyone. I met him when he did Oklahoma! [at London’s Royal National Theatre in 1999]. He was genuine, hugely talented. He was in love with his wife that day and still is.”
Hugh also revealed something that not many people would have known; he turned down the role as James Bond in the 007 franchise after having been in talks to sign on for several sequels, but the actor says he doesn’t like being locked into a franchise that disallows him from working on other things: “I thought it would box me in too much,” he says. “My natural instinct is to keep as many doors open as possible,” before boasting about his strict regime for his acting roles, such as X-Men: “Your body learns to burn fat in that 16 hours. And I sleep better.”
