Jodi Arias Verdict Reached – Guilty or Innocent?

Jodi Arias Verdict Reached - Guilty or Innocent?

After months of deliberation, Jodi Arias’ fate has been decided by the judge. Arias has been charged with the first-degree murder of killing her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander, in June of 2008.

There has been a lot of debate over whether Arias’ decision to kill her boyfriend was pre-meditated, which means that she could face the death penalty, or whether it was in self-defense, which means she could possibly could away with a lesser term in prison.

The prosecutors for the case have alleged that Arias’ crime is gruesome, and that she managed to stab Alexander 27 times in addition to shooting him in the head and slitting his throat. It seems rather like overkill, doesn’t it? Well, the defense is arguing that it was in self-defense and Arias was just scared for her life because Alexander supposedly got into a ‘violent rage’.

The case has lasted for four months, and previous reports have stated that Arias has been present for every single one but rarely engaging in the proceedings. Instead, she supposedly sat and just drew on a piece of paper as her defense argued to save her life. Of course, if convicted, she could face the harshest penalty the legal system has to offer – the death penalty.

The jury has been debating the case for the past two days, and the court made sure that the jury was as impartial as they could possibly be in these circumstances.

The full verdict will be read out in full at 4:30 PM EST.
