Kate’s Gosselin‘s desperate for more money. That’s what I took away from this latest news, which has Kate filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, and the author of her tell-all book, Robert Hoffman. In the lawsuit, Kate accuses Jon of wiretapping, computer hacking, invasion of privacy, and identity theft.
Despite the fact that she managed to shut down production and distribution on Hoffman’s tell-all novel titled ‘Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled The World’, she claims that Jon and Hoffman conspired against her, and they both illegally tapped her private information without her permission.
According to the suit, Kate claims, “After the couple was separated, Jon illegally hacked into Kate’s email account and her phone and bank accounts. Jon also stole a hard drive from Kate’s house, which contained private and confidential material. Jon the gave them the contents of Kate’s email account and the hard drive, all of which were acquired illegality, to his freest and business partner, tabloid reporter Robert Hoffman. Hoffman used the illegally acquired data to publish a defamatory book about Kate.”
Hoffman has stated that most of the private data he received was by picking through her trash, which Kate claims in her lawsuit is not possible. I agree with this, because you’re not going to get freaking email details and credit card details by picking through trash. And based on the fact that Jon and Hoffman were both good friends, and the tell-all book contained a suspicious amount of details on Kate and Jon’s marriage, I think Kate’s right to think that Jon leaked information. But why the lawsuit now? The book’s already been taken down by most legitimate retailers, and I hardly think she’s relevant enough that any leaked details from the book would make a different to the public’s perception of her. In fact. this is more likely a ploy to a) get more money because she’s broke right now, or b) to stay in the limelight. Or both.
