I have to hand it to Kate Middleton, it takes a really strong woman to do battle with royal traditions but somehow she actually seems to be winning in her quest for normalcy. In the last year we have seen several occasions where Kate didn’t just do as she was told by Queen Elizabeth but instead managed to wheel and deal her way to a happy medium. Even after giving birth to Prince George, rather than have him under lock and key in the palace, she spent the first 6 weeks at her parents’ country home adjusting to motherhood, her way.
According to the Dec. 2nd print edition of US Weekly, the Duchess is bound and determined to follow through on her litany of royal engagements while spending her downtime in a very normal family setting. Now that we’re pretty positive that Prince William will indeed be the next king it’s even more important for Kate to set those ground rules now. Luckily, Prince William is in her corner and totally supportive of Kate’s need to do things the way that she believes is best for both sides of the family.
