We are all anxiously awaiting word that Kate Middleton has finally delivered the royal heir and I’m sure loads of expectant moms think it would be pretty cool to share a delivery date with the Duchess of Cambridge. Apparently the Royal Mint also agrees that this calender birth date will be extraordinary and it should be celebrated by all families welcoming a new addition at the same time.
2013 British babies born on the same day as the new prince or princess will be eligible to receive a special commemorative silver penny in either a blue or pink pouch.
Director of commemorative coins at the Royal Mint, Shane Bissett released a statement on the giveaway, saying:
“The birth of the royal baby will be a joyous occasion not just for Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge but also for the whole nation. It will also be a special day for many mothers and fathers across the country as they too welcome the arrival of their new baby, hence why we wanted to extend this historical moment to them with a lucky penny.”
In order to be eligible families have to register in advance on the Royal Mint’s Facebook page and then cross their fingers and pray that they share a delivery date with Kate. The newest addition to the Royal family will be worth millions and it’s kind of cool that the Royal Mint wants to share that special day with other families who are also celebrating their precious new bundle.
