ABC’s hit fantasy drama ONCE UPON A TIME returns tonight with a brand new episode called, “The Outsider.” On tonight’s show Mr. Gold attempts to discover if his spell will allow him to cross The Storybrooke border and go in search of his son, and Belle meets up with Mulan to slay a fearsome Yaoguai. Did you watch last week’s winter premiere episode? We did and we recapped it here for you!
On last week’s show Regina was accused of murdering one of the town’s most beloved fairytale characters — but only Emma sensed that she may be innocent. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale land that was, after capturing the Evil Queen, Snow White and Prince Charming set about planning her public execution in order to rid the land of her murderous tyranny.
On tonight’s show Mr. Gold finds an unwilling test subject to see if a spell he has concocted will allow him to cross the border of Storybrooke — without losing his memory — and go in search of his son, Bae; Belle stumbles upon a vengeful Hook in the Storybrooke harbor whose main goal is to eradicate Rumplestiltskin; and Mary Margaret and David go house hunting in search of a bigger place to live. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, Belle meets Mulan as the two set out to slay a fearsome beast called the Yaoguai, who has been ravaging the land.

Tonight’s recap: Mr. Gold stops at the town line and he is trying to push William Smee over the town line. Mr. Gold comments that William had the rag since he knew him. William claims that his grandmother made it for him.
Mr. Gold kicks him over the town-line and then asks his name and he tells him William Smee and Mr Gold asks what his name is and he recognizes Mr. Gold as Rumpelstiltskin.
William is shocked he remembers everything and Mr. Gold tells him their experiment worked.
Mary Margaret is speaking at Archie Hopper’s funeral and everyone is upset.
Meanwhile Hook as Archie, he wants to know where the dagger is. Archie claims he has no idea. Hook wants to know if Rumpelstiltskin has any weaknesses. He threatens Archie.
Belle comes to see Mr. Gold and Mr. Gold tells her he can cross the time line. He is going to cross to find his son. Mr. Gold has a shawl left of his son. Belle asks if she could come with him, but Mr. Gold tells her he only has enough potion for one of them to cross the time line. He lets Belle that it is his journey.
In the Fairy tale that was Dreamy comes to thank Belle for the advice she gave him. The advice worked. The men in the pub are going looking for a Beast, Yaoguai and Dreamy suggests that Belle go along. Dreamy gives her Fairy dust and tells her it may come in handy.
She refuses because she has seen what magic does, but Dreamy tells her this is good magic.
Back in Storybrooke, Hook is at the Library and Belle tells him the Library is not open. Belle recognizes him as the man who broke into her cell at the Queen’s palace. She tells him he is the one who wants to kill Rumpelstiltskin and Hook tells her he will settle for her.
Belle runs to the elevator and calls Mr. Gold and tells him that someone is trying to get her, the signal is poor and he cannot really hear him.
In the Fairytale that was Belle is going along with the men to find the Beast and they are laughing at her because she is reading a book and they doubt that will help catch a Yaoguai. She tells them the book can help and they get her to tell them that the Yaoguai could be found at the Lake. They kick her off the cart. She laughs, she lied to them the Yaoguai will not be at the Lake but in the mountains.
She goes to find the Yaoguai and he comes after her. Mulan saves her with her bow, she is not happy because Mulan at been hunting the Yaoguai for weeks.
Back in Storybrooke Belle is hiding in the elevator and Mr. Gold comes to save her and tells her she has nothing to fear.
The Dwarfs ask Emma and Mary Margaret when they can go back to the Enchanted Story. The Dwarfs are concerned now that the curse is broken that people might find out about them.
Mr. Gold and Emma are headed to the shop – he wants to make sure Hook can not get near Belle. Belle wants to know what happened between Mr. Gold and Hook.
Mr. Gold admits that he use to be married and Hook took his wife and his son, so he took Hooks hand. He tells Belle his wife died. They walk into his shop and it is trashed. Mr. Gold realizes Hook attacked Belle to get him out of the store.
Hook and William Smee are together and Hook has found Mr. Gold’s son’s shawl. Mr. Gold is really upset, Belle wants to help. Mr. Gold tells Belle to go back to the Library and let him take care of getting his shawl back. Hook has cost Mr. Gold getting his son back and he does not want to lose Belle. Mr. Gold gives Belle a gun to protect herself if Hook comes back.
In the Fairytale that was the men who Belle sent on the wild goose chase try to push her down the well, they are not pleased. Mulan comes and saves her from them. Belle thanks Mulan and is surprised to see her. Mulan wants Belle’s help to track the Yaoguai.
Mr. Gold goes to see William Smee and he asks where Hook is with his son’s shawl. Mr. Smee tells Mr. Gold he is on the roof, Mr. Gold turns William Smee into a rat.
Belle does not listen to Mr. Gold and goes to find Hook’s ship. Belle discovers Hook’s ship and she goes on board she hears someone and she finds Archie tied below deck. She rescues him, she tells him to go find Mr. Gold and tell him that she is on the ship.
Mary Margaret and David are worried about Henry who is upset about Archie’s death. Emma comes home and she has Archie’s dog and asks Henry if he is up to taking care of him. Mar Margaret thinks it is a great idea to have Henry take care of Archie’s dog but she thinks they are all a bit cramped in their house.
Belle is searching Hook’s ship and she finds a chest and the key to open it. When she opens it she finds it full of gold. Hook walks behind her and asks if she is looking for the shawl. Belle tells him it does not belong to him, Belle reaches for her gun but Hook gets if from her and points it at her.
In the Fairytale that was Belle and Mulan are in the woods and Mulan was hurt saving Belle. Mulan tells Belle she has to protect her village.
In Storybrooke, Belle tells Hook that she is not afraid of him. Hook tells Belle maybe Mr. Gold’s son does not want him to find him. He also tells Belle that Mr. Gold’s wife did not want him because he was coward. Hook also tells Belle that Mr. Gold/Rumple killed his wife.
Hook asks Belle why she fights for Mr. Gold/Rumple and Belle tells him because he has change and his heart is true but Hook’s heart is rotten. Belle runs out with the shawl. Hook comes after her and asks for the shawl, Mr. Gold shows up and he starts to beat the crap our of Hook. Hook tells Belle that Mr. Gold needs to prove he is not a coward.
In the Fairytale that was Belle tricks the Yaoguai to come out of his hiding place. The Yaoguai falls and he writes a message that says, “save me.” Belle realizes he needs help, she drops the fairy dust that Dreamy gave her on him. He turns into a man, Prince Phillip, and the Prince tells her that she broke curse. Maleficent turned him into the Yaoguai to keep him away from Aurora. He tells her he is forever in his debt and he agrees to take Mulan for help.
In Storybrooke Rumple continues to beat Hook up and Belle tries to convince him to stop, she tells him she sees good in him. Mr. Gold/Rumple stops and he tells Hook to take the ship and sail out of the world, he never wants to see him again.
David wants to go back to the Fairytake and fight but Mary Margaret wants to stay in StoryBrooke and make a life.
Henry is drawing a plan to expand the house so they can all live together. There is a knock at the door and it is Archie. Archie tells them Cora kidnapped him and he is fine. Emma realizes that Regina did not kill Archie.
Mr. Gold and Belle drive to the town-line. Mr. Gold is amazed that after everything he has done, Belle has not given up on him. Belle tells him when you love something, it is worth fighting for and you never give up.
In the Fairytale that was, Belle comes back to see Mulan with Prince Phillip. She tells Mulan that he was the Yaoguai, he was cursed. Belle leaves them together.
Belle walks away and says Rumple I am coming to find you. Regina shows up and her guards take her and lock her up, they are taking her to the tower. Belle tells Regina she will never stop fighting for Rumple.
Back in Storybrooke, Mr. Gold pours the potion on himself and walks across the town-line with Belle watching. HE turns around after he crosses and he remembers her. He tells her he wishes she could come. Belle tells him it does not matter because when he finds his son she will be there waiting for him.
All of sudden a shot rings out and Belle is pushed over the town-line. It is Hook he shot her – she has gone over the town-line without the potion, Mr. Gold scream Belle and she says, “Who is Belle?”
Hook taunts Mr. Gold and he come back to Storybooke and prepares to throw a fireball at Hook when a car comes speeding down the road, it hits Hook and Mr. Gold grabs Belle and moves them to safety.
