Reece was injured in last week’s shooting as well but he survived. Carter wasn’t so lucky. Finch has to attend her funeral by being as far from the other mourners as possible. That’s the problem of being a secret friend. Ever since, Finch has been is a near deep depression. Even when the number of Carter’s killer comes up; it doesn’t faze him. He’s not calling for anyone to save this man. Odds are he knows the killer personally.

Finch has nowhere to turn to so he decides on therapy. He wanted someone to help clear up his feelings. Plus it didn’t hurt to have third party tell him not to do anything radical in his “friend’s” memory. Root’s offer of assistance was starting to get to him. He would have gotten that desperate because he’s been feeling like everything that happened was his fault. And no matter what the therapist says about survivor’s guilt he knows she could have made different choices that day.

It’s up to what remains of the POI team to help Reece through his pain right now. Reece left his hospital bed early just to look for Patrick Simmons. Shaw in her own way is also helping in the search. She figured if they found out Simmons location before Reece does then they could protect him for doing something stupid. Like going down for a murder. But Simmons has truly gone to ground. They can only find him by going through Quinn. The former boss will know where his henchman is shacked up.

Quinn is in protective custody. Normally Fusco’s connection could reach him but the NYPD are no longer considered trust-worthy. That leases Quinn’s lawyer however both Reece and the Russians beat them to the lawyer’s. While Reece will probably maim Quinn, the Russians want Quinn dead. He turned state’s evidence against them. It’s doubtable whether there will be enough of him to question. Shaw suggests they get help… from Root.

Root gets reunited with her best friend, the Machine. Taking direction, she leads the team to Quinn. They are minutes ahead of Reece allowing them to sit back and watch Reece at work. There is an art to Reece’s takeover. The way he disables Federal Marshalls could even be called funny. Yet not to Quinn. He knew it when he saw a car blow up outside of his hotel. He knew Reece was coming for him.

By time Reece makes it to Quinn, he’s bleeding badly. He doesn’t necessarily have time to listen to Quinn explain his loyalty to Simmons. He gives Quinn three minutes. If by that time the other man continues to be uncooperative; he’ll kill him. Nice and slowly.

Reece did get Simmons’s location but he didn’t kill Quinn. His friends stopped him from making that mistake. It wasn’t what Carter would want. They take him to go back to medical treatment when Root mentions something in the car. Shaw wondered why they didn’t go after Simmons and Root said it’s not just Reece that wants Simmons dead.

Fusco stayed at Quinn’s hotel supposedly to help the FEDs move their witness but he saw the paper on the floor. The one Quinn wrote Simmons’s location. What many people don’t know is that Fusco believes a little payback never hurt anyone. He mourns Carter too.

Fusco goes to Simmons’s escape route. He finds him and beats the living daylights out of him. Then he stops. It seems he’s no longer the same man that once hunted down a drug dealer and killed him in cold blood. Why? Because he had Carter and she made him a better man. So it was in her name that he arrested Simmons and took him in.

Root had a chance to escape for Finch and yet she didn’t go. She returned to her cage. She said they have a larger fight ahead of them.

Simmons is asleep in his hospital bed (Fusco injured him really bad) when Carl Elias speaks to him. He wanted Simmons to know it why he was there. He was fond of Carter. Earlier he had asked her if she wanted him to kill Simmons for her but she always said no. Now it’s Carter that’s dead and Elias feels he should balance that out. He has one of his men kill Simmons for him.

THE END!
