Pretty Little Liars RECAP 7/9/13: Season 4 Episode 5 “Gamma Zeta Die!”

Tonight on the ABC Family PRETTY LITTLE LIARS continues with the fifth episode of its fourth season called, “Gamma Zeta Die!.” On tonight’s show Spencer and Emily make a stop at a sorority party. Did you watch last week’s season 4 fifth episode? We did and we recapped it here for you.

On last week’s episode Holbrook’s partner, Lt. Tanner, cames to town, intensifying their investigation into the Liars and their possible connection to Wilden’s death. Emily panicked when her parents came under undue scrutiny due to “A’s” manipulations. Hanna bristled when Caleb tried to help her through this latest crisis, and tried to shift the focus of the police investigation. And Toby found a new source of information into his mother’s death, but it only led to more questions.

On tonight’s show Spencer and Emily make plans to visit a nearby college, but they have very different agendas for their time spent on campus. Spencer’s singular focus in figuring out Ali’s apparent connection to the school contradicts Emily’s real fears about her plans for after she graduates. And after a stinging attack by “A”, Aria and her brother Mike don’t see eye to eye regarding what’s best for their parents.

Hanna is indeed losing it. Even though it wasn’t her crime, she’s baring the guilt of Wilden’s death. She can’t and will make sure she doesn’t lose her mom to prison.

While Hanna wants to keep her mother, Spencer just want to escape her’s. Veronica wants to rebrand her daughter for getting into good schools. Preferable her own alma mater; UPenn. So she hired a guru/spin doctor to help her daughter.

Emily is already disheartened about swimming again. She termed herself as average but is blind to how much her secrets are hurting her parents.

The girls are trying to figure out the next step in their plan when Aria’s mother begins to show some aggression. Aria writes off because they’re still focusing on the mysterious phone number. They’re able to track down the number and that’s when Aria seeks out her mom. Ella isn’t leaving. She talked to her son and he doesn’t want her to leave. Aria is still trying to convince her mother but it’s no good. She leaves her mom in the car and that’s when “A” sends her message about tasting venom. “A” has unleashed a swarm of bees in Ella’s car.

Aria is more determined than ever to get her mom out of town. She gets in her brother’s face and starts throwing around words like selfish when he gives her an earful. He wants his mom because he likes having her around. Anyways he believes Aria wants their mom gone only so she could start banging her teacher again.

Meanwhile Spencer is missing out on her PR session. Luckily Emily is able to chat up the PR guy and he’s willing to help her look at schools. When Spencer does arrive she refuses to take her session seriously. She wants to track down the phone number so she’s going to look at school that isn’t even an IVY. She’s also dragging an already nervous Emily with her.

Ashley Marin went to Veronica for help. Both as a friend and as a lawyer. Veronica offers to help however she doesn’t want to know if Ashley is actually guilty. Later Veronica calls Ashley back with news from her police source. It’s not good. What makes it worse is that Hanna overheard this.

Hanna is freaking out. Her mom has moved the muddy shoes from under the sink. She wants to turn to her dad for help but is worried he’ll refuse.

Aria goes to her dad for help. She wants him to convince her mom to go. She says her mom doesn’t know what she’s giving up but leaves out any “A” business. He hears her and goes to speak to Ella. He’s

Spencer and Emily make it to the school. She wants Emily to distract their chaperone because it’s not as if they would ever go there. Emily tries to tell her the school is a serious option for her but Spencer just speaks over whatever she’s saying. Spencer is too determined to find out who Allison was calling.

Hanna finds her dad’s gun in her mom’s closet. She tries to get help by calling Spencer only to be dismissed and hung up on. Spencer’s too busy snooping. She does track the number down to the Greek row on campus.

Spencer and Emily heard about a party at a sorority house and head there. On their way, Emily finally reveals she wants to go to the school. Unlike Spencer, her parents don’t have safety net of cash. She admitted to it after refusing to help Spencer track down the number. Emily wants to think about herself tonight and not Allison. Emily goes thinking about pledging and Spencer continues to try and find someone who knew Allison.

Hanna tracks down Spencer at the party. She wants to get rid of the gun and do it miles away from Rosewood. Spencer asks her to wait and she tries to find Emily. Spencer ends up getting distracted when she finds a bear and deserted room that only has a radio, a chair, and a phone. It’s the number the bird gave them.

Hanna leaves after some guys spill chips all over her and Emily does tell her supervisor she’s gay. He’s disappointed but still offers to help her. Especially as she’s following Hanna on a dark street surrounded by drunken college kids. She turns down the offer and goes searching by herself. Hanna is burying the gun by herself in the woods. She’s caught by campus security before she can. “A” has set in a tip.
