Saudi National Behind Boston Marathon Bombings Captured – Terrorists Bombing Confirmed

It looks like we have the first inkling to who was behind the devastating attack during the Boston Marathon today. As more reports start to come in from Boston in the wake of the attack, the number of dead has been confirmed at 2 and the injured at 23 – although that number keeps rising. Although it was being rumored that it was a crude terrorist attack behind the bombings, we have our first suspect to go along with that.

The NY Post reports that authorities have ID’d a Saudi national as their central suspect, and have had him under guard at an area hospital. It’s not surprising that he would be held at the hospital, considering that most terrorists are often willing to die for their cause and he probably get severely injured with the blast.

The man was caught less than 2 hours after the bombings took place, and the 20-year-old Saudi national is said to be under strict guard at an undisclosed hospital. CBS News also reports that surveillance has managed to capture someone bringing multiple backpacks to the blast site, although we don’t have more information on that during this time.

This report from the Post also reports that the early numbers coming in were erroneous, and that 12 people were killed and more than 100 were injured. If this is true, it seems that these attacks are even deadlier than anyone predicted two hours ago. It’s also starting to look like it was a terrorist attack, although that has not yet been confirmed. After all, this is their M.O. – concentrating on a place with a large number of people, a major event; cause mass confusion and panic among a large, metropolitan city in the US. Let’s just hope that the police have managed to clear out any other bombs in the area.
