In the French Quarter, there’s a party going on under Marcel’s watchful eye. He calls the assembled partyer’s to attention and welcomes them to fight night. He tells them the winner of vampire fight night will be one step closer to earning their daylight ring. A guy and a girl vamp enter the ring and he slaps her down but then she proceeds to beat him down good and cracks hi neck in short order. Marcel says – damn girl, not bad – but then Klaus shows up and breaks her neck. Marcel asks what the hell he’s doing there.

Elijah speaks up then and says they are interrupting the revelry of a pack of filthy amateurs. He tells Marcel to turn over Hayley or they’ll kill everyone there. Marcel says they have a lot of nerve making demands in his home. Elijah says he won’t ask again. Marcel asks who she is and Klaus says she’s an old friend and he knows how attached he is to old friends.

Marcel says he did visit the plantation where he was a slave earlier. He says he was surprised the Originals have taken up residence there. He says he spoke to her and left. Marcel welcomes Klaus to look around and asks him if Hayley isn’t here, where is she?

Turns out she’s tied up in the back of a car. She kicks out the back window and the SUV pulls over. Tyler (OMG it’s Tyler!!) gets out and tells her to calm down. She calls him names including hybrid piece of shit and he grabs her out and tosses her over his shoulder and walks away from the vehicle.

Elijah and Klaus discuss the sorry state of Marcel’s vampires. Marcel says he likes Elijah better in his box but says since he respects his elders and his sire Klaus he’ll give them a witch to do a locator spell to find Hayley. The vamps haul out Sabine and she tells the Originals she can try to find Hayley.

Tyler brings Hayley to a shack in the swamp in the middle of nowhere. He demands to know why she’s shacked up with Klaus in a mansion. She says a lot has happened and he says he knows she’s pregnant with a hybrid baby. He tells her that he knows she’s part of a werewolf royal family and points to her crescent birthmark and says that this is the last of her family.

Out in the woods Hayley sees people but they are shy about coming out. Tyler says they hide in the bayou because they’ve been heavily persecuted by the vampires. Sabine performs the spell and tells them Hayley is deep in the bayou where there are encampments of werewolves hiding out from the vamps. Klaus says she must prefer wolf company to theirs’. They prepare to head out.

Marcel tells Joshua he should join in the other vamps’ reindeer games and Josh plays it off saying he was a geek in school and was bullied. Marcel tells him he saw him at Klaus’ place. Josh starts to bolt but there’s another vamp blocking him.

In the swamp, Klaus and Hayley traipse and bitch at each other. Klaus thinks Elijah has the hots for her and Elijah says he needs to stop treating her like an incubator. Klaus comes on the SUV and finds Tyler’s scent. He tells Elijah that Tyler was his first hybrid sire and says he turned the other hybrids against him so he killed them all. Tyler is the only surviving hybrid. Klaus thinks he’s there for revenge against him and admits to Elijah that he killed Tyler’s mom.

Elijah is concerned that Tyler will hurt her and Klaus asks if Elijah just wants a shot at her. Klaus tells his brother that he’s sampled her wares and they’re exquisite. Elijah is disgusted but Klaus isn’t done. He tells him that he’ll kill Tyler himself and zips away. Wonder if Elijah can follow since he doesn’t have the wolf sniffer that his brother does…

Davina sketches when Marcel comes in with a wiggling bundle. She tells him a witch was doing magic in the quarter and he tells her he knows and it’s no biggie. He tells her he has something else he needs her to handle and drops the complaining bundle. Josh wiggles out and is stunned and calls her the super witch.

Marcel tells her that Klaus compelled him to spy on him. He says he first thought to kill him but that’s against his own rules. He says he wants her to flip him so he can spy on Klaus for him. Davina says she can erase what Klaus told him but the more he told him, the worse it will hurt. Josh agrees but then asks how much.

Hayley asks him if he was in the swamp when the witches had her. He says it wasn’t him. She tells him if he hurts her that Klaus will kill him. Tyler asks why she thinks he’s afraid to die. The other wolf comes in and asks Tyler if he’s ready. He has a syringe. Hayley begs him to stop. They jam the needle into her belly and draw blood. Tyler then jams the needle into the wolf’s neck, plunges in the blood and then breaks his neck!

OMG – has Tyler figured out how to create hybrids for himself?? Cool!!!!

Marcel is in the church and asks Rebekah why she’s still in town. She asks what he did with Hayley and she proceeds to kick his ass. She accuses him of using her and sleeping with her so he could follow her to their home. Marcel asks why she came back and she’s worried that Klaus will know she was the reason Marcel found them. He promises her he didn’t tell and would never tell. She tells him he’s a master liar just like her brother. He asks if that’s what she really believes and she challenges him to prove her wrong.

Tyler drags the wolf body out of the way and tells Hayley not to judge him. He says that Dwayne volunteered and knew what he was getting into. Hayley realizes that Tyler’s trying to turn him into a hybrid and tells him it’s impossible. He says that the witch prophecy foretold this possibility. He says that the wolves have nothing to live for and would love the chance to become the superior species. The problem is that all other hybrids were sired by Klaus and he couldn’t have that. Tyler lets her know that Klaus knows the power of her baby’s blood. He says he will use her and the baby to breed more hybrids and will take over New Orleans.

Dwayne gasps back to life and Tyler tells him he has to feed on Hayley. Tyler cuts her and Dwayne doesn’t hesitate to drink. But then Dwayne freaks out and runs outside screaming. Hayley crawls to the knife Tyler used to cut her and grabs it. Tyler calms Dwayne down and tells him he’s okay. Dwayne tells him he’s better than okay. You can see the tell-tale vampire hunger veins around his eyes. Holy cow! Tyler made his own hybrid!!

Josh screams as Davina works her magic on him. She tells him it’s going to get worse because Klaus’ compulsion runs deep. She tells him to take his mind off it by thinking of something else. He tells her that he can’t think of anything else while she’s performing a voodoo lobotomy on him. He says he likes club music and she says she’s never been to any. He tells her he’s only 20 now but his teens feel like another life. He tells her he went clubbing to meet boys. He says now he just wants to meet boys, drink blood and get a daylight ring.

Davina tells him she likes classical music and that she took piano but it doesn’t matter while she’s trapped here. She says she can’t play because Klaus is afraid someone will hear. She tells him the crazy coven will kill her if they can find her. She says she’s going to kill them all and then life will go back to normal. He smiles at her kindly.

Tyler comes back in the shack and Hayley figures out he was successful. He tells her that if Klaus gets the baby he’ll make a hybrid army. Hayley tells him to protect her and the baby and hide them from Klaus. He comes at her with the knife and she tells him to think. OMG – he wasn’t planning on an army – he was testing his theory to see if Klaus could make hybrids with the baby’s blood. So now he knows for sure that he needs to kill it!

Tyler comes closer and Hayley stabs him with a wooden stake – guess she couldn’t reach the knife. But then Dwayne comes back in and demands that Tyler get away from Hayley! She tells Dwayne that he has to stop Tyler because he’ll kill the baby and kill him because hybrids can’t be allowed to live. He and Dwayne get into a rumble and Tyler rips Dwayne’s heart out.

Hayley takes the opportunity to run out into the woods. She hides and Elijah finds her. She hugs him and he holds her close. She tells him she had a crap day and he says he wants to take her home. She says there’s something she has to tell him about the baby.

Tyler walks through the woods calling to Hayley and tells her that if she comes out and doesn’t fight him he’ll make it quick. Klaus steps out of the trees and tells Tyler that’s not an offer he’ll be extending to him. Klaus tells him he looks well and that he aims to change that! Klaus tells him he never expected him to sink so low as to threaten a pregnant woman.

Klaus asks what Caroline would think of his behavior. He says he’ll ask Caroline when he calls her to tell her of his demise. Klaus throws Tyler into a tree and tells him to put some more effort into it. Tyler takes off at lightning speed into the swamp and Klaus smiles – he’s happy for the chase!

Marcel brings Rebekah into his punishment garden. He tells her it used to be something else. He shows her a sketch of a house and asks what she sees. She describes the house and tells him it’s lovely. He tells her that he designed it for her – to be their house. He shows her another sketch. He says he only built the foundation and then when she left he stopped construction. She says he could have come after her and he says she could have come back. She tells him for most of it – 90 years – she was daggered and stuffed in a box.

Marcel tells her that Klaus will never let her be happy. He tells her to make a choice between the brother who doesn’t want her to be happy and the man who wants her to have everything. She says Klaus will kill him out of spite and Marcel says not if they kill him first. So, hmm… Is he using her or is it love?

Hayley tells Elijah that Klaus must have known about the blood. She says he doesn’t care about their daughter – he just wants more hybrids. She tells him Dwayne acted more like he was sired to her. Elijah says they need to go home. Elijah tells her he will protect her – even if it’s from Klaus. She says that she can take care of herself.

Klaus looks through the werewolf camp and tells Tyler to come out and play. He does and stakes Klaus viciously. Klaus pulls out the wood and tells Tyler they need to end it… They each make angry eyes and lunge at each other.

The Tyler/Klaus slugfest rages on. Klaus yells how dare you and Tyler stabs him again. Klaus says he’s turned bloodthirsty and it’s a good thing his mother didn’t live to see him like this. Tyler hits back and calls him a failure. He says he was a failure at making hybrids, a failure with his family and that he’ll be a failure with his baby. Klaus says it’s time to end his tedious little life. He reaches into Tyler’s chest and grabs his heart. Tyler tells him to do it. He says Klaus will never break him so he needs to kill him.

Klaus smiles and says Tyler wants him to end his suffering. He says he took everything from Tyler and now he wants him to kill him. He yanks his hand out of his chest and it heals instantly. Klaus tells him that he doesn’t deserve the peace that death offers. He says he wants him to wake suffering every day in his wretched life knowing that his continued existence is only at Klaus’ will.

Klaus them takes it a step further. He compels him to go and live the rest of his days knowing he is nothing to Klaus. He throws him to the ground and Tyler is devastated.

Rebekah tells Marcel that hundreds of fools have tried to vanquish Klaus. He tells her he has a secret weapon in Davina. Rebekah breaks the harsh news to him that they learned at the expense of losing her other two brothers – if you kill an Original, all the vampires they’ve sired also die. She tells him that if he kills Klaus, he will die as well. Well, that’s got to throw a wrench in Marcel’s plans. She says even if he kills Klaus, he’ll still win.

Marcel says they can bury Klaus down in his garden and she says that may work for the riff-raff, but will never work on someone as strong as Klaus. She says she can’t believe he’s willing to risk his life to be with her.

Hayley and Elijah find Klaus at the shack. He kicks Dwayne’s body out and asks Hayley to explain why there’s a body of a dead hybrid. He asks how that’s possible and Hayley says – as if you didn’t know – and lunges at him. Elijah holds her back. He explains that Tyler brought her there to test his hybrid creation theory. Klaus says that Elijah is too eager to assume the worst about him and that he couldn’t care for his own child. Elijah says he always told him every king needs an heir but that he hasn’t shown any concern for Hayley or her child.

Klaus tells Hayley that standing beside the noble Elijah of course Klaus looks lesser and like a liar. He tells Elijah that all he is to him and Rebekah and Hayley that he’s a bastard. He says no doubt the baby will feel that way as well. He says he will play the role he’s been given. He attacks Elijah and bites him. He says the bite is his parting gift and tells him to enjoy the hallucinations and pain when they set in.

Okay – here’s my question. The hybrid bite kills vampires, so it should also kill Elijah. But couldn’t they take some of the amniotic blood and inject Elijah and make him a hybrid too? Hmmm….

Josh lays sweating on the floor in pain. Davina tells him they’re all done and that he’s free. He sits slowly and tells her he can feel the difference. He says before he was always thinking about Klaus and now he’s like – screw that guy. He says Klaus can suck it. Davina stares at him and says Marcel wants to make him forget about her. He says it’s not necessary because he owes her his life and will keep her secret. He says it’s nice talking to someone normal.

She says she’s a 16 year old super witch living in a church attic and he says he’s a gay club kid turned vampire. He says relative is normal and he pinky swears to keep her secret.

In the shack, Hayley frets about Elijah’s injury. He says the bite won’t kill him but it’s a nuisance much like Klaus himself. She thanks him and says he didn’t have to stay with her. Elijah says that Sabine told him the people of this village are all the family she has left and he can relate. He admits he may have been too willing to condemn Klaus. He tells her that all of the Originals have committed legions of unspeakable acts. She says she has to but that most people die before the list gets too long. She tells him not to compare himself to Klaus.

She tells him it’s hot and she’s going to get some air. She walks outside and sees a book has been left on the porch. She shows it to Elijah and says it’s a Bible with a multi-generational family tree. There is a list of names and she thinks she’s the last name on the list – Andrea – because it’s noted as the day she was born.

Klaus tells Rebekah he thought she was leaving. She says the family needs him. She asks where Elijah and Hayley are and he says Hayley has turned Elijah against him. He says he abandoned them in the swamp and that now he’ll need her to serve in Elijah’s place in the plot against Marcel. She asks why she should help after what he did to Elijah and he says they’re family. He says she’s the best choice to spy on him since he loves her. He asks her how Marcel happened to find them at their plantation house. She asks how she would know and he says he knows all about her private meetings with Marcel. He asks what secrets Marcel has and whether he’s plotting against him. She tells him that he’s paranoid and that Marcel knows nothing. She says he simply thinks they’re in a quarrel and need to make up. He says perhaps they will since she well knows he’s capable of forgiving those who betray him after they learn the error of their ways and suffer for it. She says he’ll never let her forget.

Tyler comes to make a deal with Marcel and tells him that Hayley is pregnant and her baby will mean the end of the vampire species. Marcel doesn’t look happy…
