Klaus and Eliah read ancient tomes. A dead girl lies on the coffee table. Rebekah mocks them for their vampire book club. The dead girl was a peace offering from Elijah for him being stuck in a coffin for so long. Elijah didn’t want her so Klaus ate her… Rebekah goes to get the rubbish bin.

Marcel heads in the Palace Royale Hotel. Cammie finds graffiti on her brother’s grace that says murderer. Father Kieran unboards the church as part of his clean-up work.

Elijah goes to find Hayley in the kitchen. She asks them to try and keep milk on the grocery list. Elijah asks if Klaus and Rebekah were kind to her in his absence. She says she was nearly murdered several times. She tells him the witches think her baby is a demon. Elijah fixes her a bowl of cereal.

She tells him the witches are evil and that she’s not happy about her life being linked to Sophie’s. Rebekah asks who they have to kill to fix that and Elijah says no one – then modifies it to – potentially no one…

Sophie and Sabine talk about the prophecy and how stirred up Agnes is when a stranger comes into the kitchen, knocks Sabine out cold and blows a powder into Sophie’s face that knocks her out.

Rebekah asks if Klaus is ready poetry to prepare for his impending fatherhood. He says with Elijah back he has no worries. Rebekah asks why Elijah has their mother’s book out and he says he promised Davina some pages from the grimoire. He says he thought he would start with an unlinking spell to separate the lying Sophie from Hayley.

Elijah tells Klaus to come with him to make sure he’s not disturbed while he speaks to Davina alone and directs Rebekah to watch out for Hayley. She asks how she was appointed super nanny and Klaus wants to know who put his brother in charge…

Marcel sits in a bar drinking when Joshua asks if he can get anything for him. Marcel tells him he knows he’s hoping for a daylight ring but he has other vamps 80 years ahead of him in line. Then he asks Joshua if he knows Klaus and reminds him he gave Klaus a ride there a couple of times. He tells Joshua that he found out that Klaus lied about living there. He tells him – heavy is the head that wears the crown. He says Klaus made him read Shakespeare as a kid.

Marcel says it’s hard to figure out who you can trust. Marcel quoted Shakespeare and Joshua quotes Lord of the Rings and says he needs to find someone he can trust. Marcel says there is someone – a friend from ages ago. He walks out (we assume to find this friend)…

Elijah shows up at Davina’s attic with the book pages and tells her he’s there to keep his promise.

Cammie comes to confession and Kieran recognizes her voice. She tells him she’s there for professional advice from her uncle about Sean.

Elijah shows Davina the unknotting spell. He gives her a knot and says if she can unknot it, it will help her control her powers. He says if she masters the spell, he’ll bring her another page and it can be a spell of her choosing.

Cammie tells him she saw Sean’s grave and he says he wanted to clean it up before she saw it. She tells him she’s been sleeping well this week and hasn’t been worried about Sean and that even seeing the graffiti didn’t worry her. She’s concerned that her pain is gone. She says without the pain she feels broken and empty. She says she’s feeling like she is letting someone get away with what happened to Sean. Kieran says the only person responsible for Sean’s actions was Sean and she asks if he really believes it and he says he does. She leaves the confessional and walks out of the church. Klaus watches her go from the rafters.

Agnes has Sophie chained up. She tells her that she shouldn’t kill her and Agnes says she won’t kill her but is going to do something to her to kill the baby. She says the baby can’t grow another day because it’s too much of a risk to the witches. She says as the last remaining elder, it’s her responsibility. She has a wicked steampunk looking syringe with green goo in it and heads toward Sophie who begs her not to.

Agnes jabs it into Sophies neck. Hayley flinches and draws her finger away from her neck and it’s bloody. She tells Rebekah it feels like she was stabbed. At Sophie’s place, Elijah helps Sabine off the floor and asks what happened. She tells him Sophie was taken and Klaus congratulates Elijah for letting the link to Hayley get kidnapped by zealots on the first day he’s in charge.

Sabine doesn’t want to tell them where to find Agnes because she thinks they will kill her and she’s their last elder. She says she’s the only one that can do important spells. Elijah says like the harvest and Sabine is surprised he knows. Klaus threatens her and Elijah tells her that the witch problems are not relevant to them. He commands her to talk.

Marcel comes to his dungeon and finds Thierry bricked in. He tells him someone asked him who he trusted and says the only name he could come up with was him. Marcel tells him he wants to talk to him about Klaus.

Rebekah brings Hayley a snack and asks about her neck. She says she feels fine but is sure it’s Sophie related. Hayley tells her when they first met she thought she was a bitch. Rebekah asks about now and she says she still thinks she’s a bitch but now she likes it about her. Rebekah says she’ll miss her – she says she only came to make sure Elijah was okay.

Hayley feels faint and thinks it’s morning sickness but Rebekah says she’s burning up. Elijah and Klaus find Sophie and she tells them that the poison Agnes gave her will work by that night and says it will burn up the baby’s blood in utero causing a miscarriage.

She says she’s seen a similar poison before – she says that Agnes used it on a guy that went nuts and killed a bunch of priests (Sean!) and Klaus says he wants a chat with Agnes. Sophie says she’s got a thousand places she can hide until the deed is done. Elijah says he wants to unlink them and Sophie says that wasn’t part of their deal. Elijah tells her their deal with her is over and done.

Marcel has unbricked Thierry and gives him a flask of blood and he asks if this means he’s pardoning him. Marcel reminds him he killed a vampire and says he can’t let that go because it will make him look weak. Thierry tells him he warned him about Klaus. Marcel says Klaus has been lying about where he sleeps and he wants to know what else he’s been lying about. He asks to know what happened the night that he killed Max.

Thierry tells him that Max went missing for a couple of days and thinks Klaus could have drained him of vervain and compelled him. He says Max wouldn’t listen and thinks it was all a Klaus set-up. He tells him to watch his back and that he thinks someone else from the crew is also compelled.

The Mayor and other town reps meet in the church and Kieran tries to reassure them about Marcel. Klaus comes in and says he created the faction but back in his day it was pirates and corrupt politicians. He says nothing has changed. Kieran says no vampires allowed and especially no Originals. He says he wants them to help him find Agnes. Kieran asks why they should help and Klaus reveals she hexed Sean into insanity.

Kieran says they need time to consider it and Klaus says he has no time and no patience for waiting. Kieran says that unless he plans on killing all the humans there he needs to give them time to chat. Klaus says it’s admirable that he knows Klaus’ reputation and still has the nerve to stand up against him. He gives them an hour and leaves. Kieran tells the faction to use all their resources to track down Agnes. The Mayor asks why do it for the vampire and Kieran says it’s for him.

Davina works on the spell and struggles with the Latin. The knot holds fast.

Hayley tells Rebekah she feels like she’s been microwaved. Elijah and Sophie comes in and Rebekah asks why Sophie is there and why they’re not unlinked. Sophie says she needs some herbs to work a spell to slow the fever. Rebekah agrees to play fetch girl and leaves.

Rebekah is herb shopping in a panic in Katie’s shop when Marcel comes in. He asks if she was left the keys in her will and why she’s there. She says she’s making a vampire repellant. She asks why he’s there and he says he has to keep control over his city and doesn’t want the Originals with their hands in the cookie jar. She says she’s not interested in his cookies. He says at one time things were different.

Kieran gets a text with an address for Agnes and starts to head out but Klaus is there. He asks where the priest is heading and tells him he seems hell bent on getting revenge. He says he needs something from Agnes before he exacts his revenge. He tells him to bring Agnes to the church and promises if he does he’ll keep Cammie safe so she doesn’t get caught up in “all of this.”

Cops haul Agnes into the church and she asks what the charge is. He unrolls a syringe and says this is what you’re looking for. Klaus is there immediately. Kieran threatens her over what she did to Sean. Klaus tells her to undo the curse or he will show her things worse than death. She says there is no off switch and it’s just a matter of time.

Elijah says Hayley is burning up and he pulls her into the cold water. Sophie gives her the herb solution and tells Elijah to hold her in the water to slow her heart rate. They have to buy time for Davina to break the link and Elijah says he has faith she can do it.

Davina holds the knot in her hand and chants. Hayley is struggling to breathe and Elijah holds her close and tells her to focus on his voice. Davina works the spell and holds the knot. The clocks strikes nine. Hayley screams in pain and the knot unravels. Davina smiles as the rope straightens. Sophies says she felt it lift. Hayley steps out of Elijah’s arms and they claps hands and stare into each other’s eyes. Rebekah notices all of this.

Sophie asks Elijah to stop Klaus from killing Agnes because she’s the source of power they need to survive. Elijah calls Klaus and tells him not to hurt her and that he’ll be there shortly. Elijah promises her that he won’t let Klaus kill her. Hmm… Elijah is tricky and likes Davina – he may kill Agnes himself and call it a technicality!

Hayley tells Sophie that if she tries anything with her again and she’ll kill her.

Rebekah wants to talk to Elijah about leaving since the unlinking works. He says later and she says she won’t be there when he gets back. She says she only came back to make sure he was safe and she hoped he’d come away with her but she says she knows now he’ll never leave Klaus. He takes her hand and tells her to stay. She says she wants no part of the Klaus-Marcel-Elijah triangle and just wants to be free. He kisses her and tells her to go and be free. He rushes out while Rebekah cries.

Marcel drinks and asks why Rebekah is there. She says she believes in farewells in person. He assumes she’s taking Elijah and leaving and tells her it’s smart to run away. She says Elijah is staying and that she’s not running. He offers her a drink for the road.

Rebekah asks if he’s trying to get her drunk to convince her to stay and he says that’s why she came there. She insists she only came to say good-bye and he comes close and tells her to say it. She turns to walk away and he grabs her arm and kisses her. She pulls away and then comes back at him. They get vampire intense crazy sexy really fast…

Klaus tells Agnes she’s a piece of work and that he is too. He says he considered leaving pieces of her all over her family tomb. Klaus chokes her and Elijah says to leave her. He says he promised Klaus wouldn’t kill her. Elijah says he will give Klaus the forgiveness he asks for as long as he doesn’t make Elijah break his word. Klaus calls him a noble brother and steps away from Agnes. He tells him it’s like him to spoil his fun and Elijah says not so.

Elijah goes on a tear and rips the hearts out of all the men in the room and tells her his promise was only that she wouldn’t die by his brother’s hand. He tells her no one hurts his family and lives. Elijah snaps her neck and says again no one! He walks out of the church while Klaus smiles – obviously pleased at the mayhem.

Marcel finds Rebekah on the balcony overlooking the street. She tells him she’s been away for a century and can’t believe he didn’t change a thing in her room. He tells her it can’t be as comfie as their rooms at the Palace Royale. She says those are plenty comfie and holds out an apple and he says he doesn’t eat those anymore because they reminded him of his slave days when he couldn’t have anything.

Rebekah asks him to come away with her. He says it’s his home and she says it was her home once. Marcel gets angry and says that a man doesn’t run from his home. Rebekah says she has lived much longer and knows that without someone to share it with a kingdom is nothing. She tells him to have New Orleans and that she won’t be there to stop him. She hands him the apple and stomps out. He takes a bite.

Joshua tells Hayley that Marcel knows that he’s not at the hotel and she says she’s not Klaus’s keeper. Marcel watches from the orchard. The apples made him realize they were out at their old plantation. There’s a knock at the door and Hayley calls out Josh’s name but when she opens the door it’s Marcel. He introduces himself and says he doesn’t believe they’ve met.

Klaus comes to find Cammie and asks if she remembers the promise he made her. He tells her that Sean was hexed by a witch to commit the murders and kill himself. She says she knew he wasn’t crazy. She asks who it was and Klaus says she doesn’t need to worry about it because the witch paid for it in blood. She slaps him and says that she doesn’t want to be attached to a revenge murder. He says she can find comfort in the truth. She tells him how upset she is about him compelling her to be at peace with something that should be causing her pain. She tells him when she finds a way to undo what he’s done to her he’s going to wish he never laid eyes on her.

He rushes out of the shop and Marcel finds him on the street. He asks if Klaus is still mad about their argument and Klaus says it’s water under the bridge. He also tells him if he wants a go at Cammie to have at her because he doesn’t feel like now is the right time for them. He says he stopped by his place earlier for a drink and must have missed him. Klaus says he moved from the hotel weeks before. Marcel says – no, your other place!

Elijah comes into the house and calls for Hayley. Marcel says he knows he’s at the plantation where he was once a slave. He asks why he hasn’t invited him over. Klaus says Davina and Marcel can come over one evening since they were so hospitable to Elijah. Marcel says he looks forward to it.

Rebekah gets a call from Elijah and he asks where Hayley is – he says she’s gone. Klaus comes in and tells him Marcel was there! Uh-oh looks like Klaus’ baby mama got kidnapped.
