Tonight on MTV their comedy series AWKWARD about an under-the-radar teen continues with an all new Tuesday November 11, season 4 episode 19 called, “Over the Hump.” On tonight’s episode, Jenna [Ashley Rickards] struggles with stress from college applications and boy drama.

Jenna is looking forward to spring break. Lacey tells her they’re all going to Mexico since Alli rented a huge house. Sadie has invited a bunch of people to celebrate her getting into Columbia. Jenna says she and Sadie have a lot in common since they both got into college. Lacey tells her to keep it quiet since she hasn’t told her dad but then he’s there and wants to know what’s up. Jenna says someone got into Lockhard. Kevin hugs her but she says it’s her mom. Her mom downs a shot of tequila and says – surprise.
Lacey tells him she was inspired when they were visiting colleges and wondered if she was too old. Jenna says yes she is. Kevin asks if she’s going to commute or live on campus and pledge a sorority. She says she wants an education and career and says she wants to be a fixer. Jenna says that’s a TV show, not a career. Kevin says getting in was good enough, she doesn’t have to go but Lacey is determined. She says she needs to do more research and calls dibs on the TV.
Jenna says Sadie is acting like a newly engaged Kardashian and Sadie mocks her for having no acceptance letters yet. Gabby thanks Sadie for inviting her to Mexico then thanks Jenna for help with the party. She says she left the tequila at Matty’s but Jenna says she got it back then they lie about when he returned it. She thinks they should be honest with Gabby but he says it was just a kiss.
Sadie tells Theo and Cole she can’t afford Columbia and doesn’t want to go into debt to go. They mock her desperation. She says she can get a scholarship for a free ride but she needs their help to look like a sad sycophant they throw money at. Sadie asks Jake to show up for the scholarship shoot – she wants him as her vanilla style consultant. He’s offended but says he’ll help.
Matty shows up at Jenna’s and says he tried to call his bio dad but the number was old. Jenna Googles his name and says there are 136 guys. Lacey shows up and says Gabby is at the front door. Gabby gives her a bottle and says it’s to replace the one Matty totaled. She also tells her that she’s not sure about the spring break trip and says Sadie has scared her since pre-school. Gabby says it will be nice to have a real friend there. She hugs Jenna who silently thinks she’s a real horrible friend.
Jenna tells Matty he has to go and she says she can’t sneak around with him and says he should do this with Gabby. She says if this comes out the wrong way, it will be a big deal. He leaves. Sadie’s video says she’s living with an aunt who’s battling a chronic illness and Jake asks what that is and she says alcoholism and sluttiness. Sadie does her video and Jake says she’s saying food truck like she’s constipated.
Sadie does weird gestures and talks like a nutter. Jake says he thinks they have it and tells Theo and Cole they’re fired and wants Jake to edit it. She tells him not to f- it and calls Theo and Cole twisted twinks. Jenna says she’s going to avoid Matty to be a better friend to Gabby. Then Gabby comes over and says Matty told her what happened after the party.
Jenna says they were really drunk and it was just a kiss and she’s so glad he told her. But he didn’t tell her and Gabby blows up. Her crew calls Jenna trash at lunch and Tamara asks what’s up and Jenna tells her. Tamara calls her deja stupid. She says she just found out that her mom got into college but can’t tell her Matty’s adoptive secret. Tamara stomps away annoyed and Jenna is alone. She goes to eat in a bathroom stall like sophomore year. She sees a drawing of herself on the stall wall calling her a slut dog.
She goes to see Val who tells her that she and Will are also going to Mexico for spring break. Val says she heard about her hookup and Jenna says she was just sad about her mom getting into college. Val tells her not to be too hard on herself and says it’s not all her fault. Sadie shows up and screams at Jenna and says it’s all her fault. She says Matty is the only one she cares about and now he isn’t coming because of Jenna. She stomps away too.
Tamara announces the airing of Sadie’s scholarship video. They play it and it has all of her f- bombs. Everyone is laughing at her – even Val and Will. Jenna even has to laugh. Sadie tells Theo and Cole she’s going to murder him but he says Jake decided to spike his vanilla shake with some rum. She goes chasing down Jake and screams at him. She asks if he sent that one to Columbia. He says they are all used to her but at Columbia she gets a clean slate.
He says she’s so evil she may be the one killing the bees. He says she may not be a big a bitch as she wants everyone to thinks she is. She says she totally is. Jenna tells Matty he needs to communicate with Gabby like he does with her. He says it’s easier with Jenna and he says he won’t go to spring break because that will ruin what he has with Gabby.
She tells him he needs to come clean with Gabby about being adopted and he says he can’t. She asks why he brought it to her then and he says he wishes he hadn’t. Lacey asks Jenna to go bikini shopping. Jenna rants at her mom and says she’s always trying to best her – trying to be more popular, more fun at parties, have a better body. She says now she even proved she’s better at getting into college.
Lacey says maybe she is too old for this and stomps out, hurt and angry as Kevin comes in. Jenna says she won’t go to college now because of what she said but Kevin says she’s going because he already mailed the tuition check. He says Lacey went through a lot to get into college and tells Jenna she’ll get into college and it will be the right place for her. He says Lacey really wants to do this, but is just scared.
Jenna asks why it’s hard to be friends with exes and he says guys heads and hearts are not wired right and it’s hard to communicate what they want. He says he has to go tell her mom she’s going to college or she’s grounded. Jenna is determined to help Matty communicate what he wants to Gabby. Jenna researches and finds Matty’s bio dad then comes to see him.
She says she narrowed it down to three guys she found on Facebook. She shows him the one she thinks is most likely. She says the guy lives about an hour from the spring break house. He tells her that he didn’t ask her to do this but she says she wanted to and he can decide what to do with the info when he’s ready. Kevin has Lacey’s college essay and shows it to Jenna. She wrote that she got pregnant at 16 but she never saw it as a mistake. She says it’s a privilege to grow up with her daughter.
She says her daughter intimidates and inspires her and going to college means she might make her daughter as proud of her as she is of her. Jenna goes to hug her mom and she asks if Jenna is okay with her going to college. She says she’s not yet but will be.
